Donald Trump pulls no punches in UN General Assembly speech
Trump's upfront speech
Trump's speech pulled no punches as he addressed the United Nations General Assembly just as his predecessors have done like Obama and Bush. Trump's rallying cry on his Presidential campaign was "America first". This also appeared to be his rallying cry in his speech at the UN but this meant not only domestically but on foreign policy.
Mr Trump stated that North Korea would be destroyed if the regime directly threatened the United States. Trump said he would protect the interests abroad of the United States and its Allies. He added that he hoped it would not come to that.
He also attacked the regime of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela and singled out the Iranian nuclear agreement calling it "Embarrassing". He went on that the deal allowed Iran to continue its nuclear programme clandestinely. Going back to North Korea he seemed to single out China and other nations for trading with North Korea and helping to keep the reclusive Communist nation afloat.
Many world leaders were visibly shocked by Trump's words with one man covering his face with his hands. The Iranians listening to Trump's speech called it "Shameless" and "Ignorant".
Trump in making his speech at the UN General Assembly is doing what a long line of American Presidents have done before him like Bush and Obama in addressing this body.
Whether you like Donald Trumps brand of politics or not he seems to mean what he says and says what he means. Possibly because Donald Trump does not come from a traditional political background or from a dynasty of politicians like the Kennedys, Bushs or Clintons. He came from the world of business and reality television where there are similarities between politics but also sharp differences too.

Where the US and the rest of the world will end up during Trump's first term in the White House is anyone's guess.
The UN General Assembly
The United Nations General Assembly is the main deliberative, policy-making and the representative organ of the United Nations. Decisions on peace are made on peace and security there.
The discussion takes place between 193 nations and from time to time leaders of different nations address this body.
General Assembly resolutions are not legally binding but can be if they are internal like budgetary and procedural matters.
For a vote to pass it must attain a two-thirds majority and the body must meet at the United Nations headquarters unless otherwise stipulated. Each member of the Security Council has under Article 27 one vote.
