Don's World 200521 - Why My Perspective on Things?
Don's World
Who is DON?
Let me explain who I am and just what I'm doing here espousing my thoughts and opinions on you.
First of all, I'm a Senior, a Baby Boomer even, and I am writing these articles to provide my perspective, and I hope that of my peers, on what I see going on in this world of ours; where I have lived and subsisted for so long.
Here are some personal facts for you to read and I hope you try to remember as you read what I write on this string or articles;
I am an American.
My family has been American since my great, great, blah-blah, blah - grandfather came here, with his new wife, from England and settled on a piece of land in the colony of Virginia, given to them by King George in 1647. So, you probably can expect me to have an "America First" attitude on most subjects whether you care or not.
I am a Male.
Sorry folks, I was born a male, I was raised a male, and I have sired three children with my wife, who by the way is a female.
So, If you want to sub-divide your "maleness" or "femaleness" into one of the new categories, then go ahead. I don't really care what you call yourself, how you dress yourself or what sexual practices you think makes you a new evolutionary category other than male or female.
Just go and do your thing, because that's what I'm going to continue doing; my thing, as a male.
I am a Veteran.
I became of age and I joined the Navy in the late sixties, so i am a veteran from VietNam War era . So I am used to being cursed, spit on and treated like some inhuman sub-species who killed babies and other living mammals.
So, you can thank me for my service now, but you're too late; decades too late in fact for such sympathies to move me where you think it should move me. Of course, I'll thank your for saying; "Thank You for Your Service" but I know from experience that once our journalists decide to change your fickle attitude about veterans, you will change over quickly.
I paid my own way.
Because I served in the Navy, I was given some financial support via the GI Bill to help me pay for my tuition as I took night classes for years before I received my degree in Engineering. I worked at the same time and my wife also worked and supported me and our three children over those years.
So, I feel I paid my own way and in my opinion, so should everyone else, if they want a better education, then they should work for it.
Don't Make Assumptions
At this point I need to tell you something.
From what you have read here, please do not make any assumptions about me and what my opinion on any subject might be.
You see, every person has their own opinions on things, especially things that affect their lives their lives, and I feel that probably the dumbest thing politicians and journalists do is jump to conclusions over what they see or hear in what is actually just a moment in a person's lives.
I am somewhat Conservative because my family was "almost poor" when I grew up, and over the years, my wife and I have lived well but we also had to "pinch our pennies" our whole lives.
On the other hand, I am somewhat Liberal because I believe no human should ever go hungry, and I believe everyone should have a roof over their heads. Who pays for this, and how, is a subject that i have no solution for, but shame on our politicians for fighting with each other all of these years; as they readily give enormous moneys away to nations around the world.
I am not a member of a political party, because over the more than half century of my going to the polls and voting, I have ended up not voting FOR a politician, but rather I have always voted AGAINST the other(s) that disgusted me the most with their so-called platforms.
I am White, because my parents are White (I think).
I am a Christian, because my Mom made me go to Church every Sunday, and I was indoctrinated early on in my life.
I am from the South, so I talk a little slower than most people and I don't care if you laugh at my accent.
I own guns and for decades i would regularly hunt and kill Deer, Rabbits, Squirrels, and other animals. But we ate what I killed. I still have my guns and by the way, none of them has ever jumped out of my gun case and run down the road killing innocent people.
There are numerous other things I could say here about myself, but let's leave it with the fact that I am my own person, and just because I am now retired and aging more every year, my opinions and thoughts should not be ignored,
I still keep up with important issues, I vote, and I still have my own opinions. Opinions that are based on a broad range of experiences, and not on what someone in a suit reads on a teleprompter that someone else wrote.
'Nuff Said!
