Draining the ocean

Draining The Oceans

Water.....our greatest ally or foe... which of the two could it be? It depends on the situation and habitat.

A few days back I saw a preview of a show on cable called " The draining of the oceans ". It was featured on the National geographic channel and can now be found on YouTube for free. The show was focused on the advantages of draining some of the water out of the ocean which in turn will bring down the water level around the world. By pumping out water from the oceans we can save our below water level cities like Miami, New Orleans and the numerous islands around the world before they become flooded and disappear off the map. Now if your a skeptic about that then you must not be watching those ice caps disappear so quickly. By draining the ocean we can make hurricanes and tsunamis less effective in destroying land and lives.

What will they do with the water? Well I'm sure that once stored that the corporate world will find a way to market it or maybe even purify it for drinking purposes. If you ask me then we ought to ship it to the moon, which should be like our trash bin. (ever thought of the moon as a trash bin for our excessive disposal problem in the world) But yet logically so, think about this one....

Everyday 10,000's of big steel containers enter the US with imports. These containers have been a nuisance and well as an eye sore for docks across the nation. Recently a California based company started refurbishing them into houses. (check out the pictures below to see examples)

My crazy idea lies around these 100,000's of containers that are just sitting all around the world empty. What if we store the water in those containers and then stack them?

So what's holding them back? The corporate world is. Bringing the water level down across the globe means beach front properties won't be "beach front properties". All those Hyatts and Hilton Hotels on the shoreline, they not having that sh**. They will try everything in their power to stop this because of the financial crisis they'll face rather the environmental challenges we face.

Our biggest problem on this earth seems to be the climate changes and it's effects on the oceans and animal life, for instance: The polar bears. Truth is that as a whole we can pull through this and take control of our earth by draining the ocean. By doing this we can secure a better life for our next generation of kin. It might sound crazy but this can be done and it can be very effective. How do you feel about this topic? What are some pros and cons?

Be sure to check out the 2018 series on Nat Geo about draining the ocean which explores the possibilities beyond the unfathomable thought, it's a great series.
