Those who choose a life of crime attempt to ensure that law enforcement will not find them. While some are successful, most are not. Humans make mistakes, and law enforcement can pick up on those mistakes. Those captured end up in jail or some other place that makes them break.

Those who are not caught are usually smart, lucky, or even had a lengthy escape plan already planned. They typically have a large criminal support group for when they plan their escape. These are five fugitives that have still not been caught.

1. Joseph Kony

Joseph Kony is the leader of the guerilla army known as the Lord's Resistance Army. The group has dedicated their life to creating a theocratic government in Uganda. However, they are attempting to establish this government through brutal methods. Under Kony's leadership, the LRA has kidnapped children and displaced millions of people. He has controlled the abduction of 60,000 people. He has even ordered children to murder their own parents. Governments around the world have been hunting Kony for years, and now he is wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

2. Aribert Heim

Aribert Heim was an SS officer in World War II and became known as "Dr. Death." While he is 94, he is still wanted by many governments. He fled Germany in 1962 and has not been seen since. He is one of the few remaining Nazi fugitives. He killed and tortured inmates by injecting them with toxic chemicals and performed surgery without any form of anesthesia. The Austrian government is offering a $495,000 reward.

3. Chief Ratko Mladic

Mladic was partially responsible for the ethnic cleansing of Muslims and Croats in Bosnia. He was indicted by the UN International Criminal Tribunal in 1995. However, he has yet to be found and captured. He is wanted for multiple crimes including genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. He also is facing charges for taking hostages that included UN personnel.

4. Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar

Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar has become India's most wanted terrorist. He is the leader of an organized crime syndicate based out of Mumbai. He oversees an empire that is involved in counterfeiting, arms and drug trafficking, and murder. Kaskar is responsible in part for the Bombay bombings in 1993 that killed 257 and wounded 713. He allegedly has ties with Al Qaeda. He has been labeled a global terrorist by many countries. Intelligence and law enforcement agencies believe that he is hiding out in Yemen, India, or Pakistan.

5. Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov

Alimzhan Tokhtakounov was born in Uzbekistan and is a part of the Russian mob group. The U.S. government has been hunting him for years. He is believed to have been involved in stealing vehicles, weapon trafficking, and fixing events. He was captured in 2002 but was later freed. He has not been seen since and is believed to be hiding in Russia.
