Fox News Stinks

Updated on May 15, 2011

Crazy Talk

Rhetoric Machine

I know people who watch Fox News from both sides of the spectrum. I know the right wingers who swear that Fox is the only true news channel. I also now left wingers who watch Fox to yell at the TV. Neither of these two groups impress me because I cannot understand what would possess a person to watch Fox News.

Take for instance the video in this post. This is Lt. Col Ralph Peters, a Fox pundit speaking about the American soldier who has been captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan. He starts out talking about how the Taliban will not kill Private Bowe Bergdahl right away because he is to valuable to them as a propaganda tool.

What caught my eye is what Peters says next. He will support Bergdahl if he was truly captured by the Taliban he was behind him. Peters goes on to say, that however, if we find out that he deserted his friends and comrades in time of war the Taliban will be doing us a favor and saving us legal bill by killing him.

Now I ask you, what kind of patriotism is this? Of course, there are people that we all wish that were dead, but who are we to judge the motives of someone before the truth comes out. People like Peters spout off this rhetoric and never think about the consequences. Fortunately for them, Fox News is the perfect forum for their hate speech.

Fox news is not news. It is PROPAGANDA. Those who watch it, take Fox's brand of news and hope that it holds water. However, this guy Peters and his proclamations are dangerous and treasonous. We should all hold judgement until this soldier is back home and is able to tell his story.

In the mean time, lets tell Fox News it is time move on and start a new business because Fox News has never been news.

@Harvey: for someone blaming someone else for having a bad education I'm just wondering why you are not even capable of spelling the name of the author correctly.

On topic: Im not from the US, but after watching FOX news for 10 minutes I heard so many one sides stories on FOX news where the Republicans were glorified with horrible arguments and the democrats were burried with equally horribe arguments (I literally just heard: that democrat he has a weird pony tail and that democrat is sweating while he talks and he doenst sing on the right note :s) that I find it hard to believe anyone can take FOX news seriously.

I'm not saying that I have THE news source to go to, instead I always use MULTIPLE sources to form my opinion.

I dont favor democrats OR republicans, for I am too unfamiliar with the local politics, but from a meta perspective I see that FOX news is too colored to be trusted a a single source of news.

You have chosen a video that says the opposite of what you have written and you have NOT answered any of the comments you have received. Therefore you wrote this just to insight others. Sorry pal, you wanted some HATE comments so you can flag people.

This article was written by an individual with a minimum education, I think someone was using your name. That person should be sent back to school!

How to Deal with Fox News

If you hear someone softly crying, "I'm melting, I'm melting," in the distance, it's not the wicked witch from The Wizard of Oz but Fox News. One must listen through the din of hysteria that dominates almost every program. The shrinking credibility of the right wing, like the shrinking of a defeated witch, will be very good for innocent children everywhere. When Fox News tried to strike fear into the public heart by claiming that President Obama's televised speech to schoolchildren was secret indoctrination, the wind whistled down the empty canyons of Mediaville.

They turned up the volume with cries that Obama was the same as Kim Jong Il, that he was brainwashing a future generation of liberals, that his tactics were identical to those used in Stalin's Russia. Common sense contradicted these delusions -- not that anyone at Fox News believed them for a second -- and such socialist presidents as the first George Bush and Ronald Reagan had delivered the same sort of benign address to the nation's schools. One had to smile at the lengths the right has to go to in order to evoke a quiver of nervousness, much less the full-blown seizure of anxiety and fear they used to trigger.

Why, then, not admit victory and smile? The deathers and birthers aren't making an impact, with the former trotting out the specter of bureaucratic death panels to end Grandma's life, the latter wandering about in a daze as they hold Barack Obama's birth certificate up to the light, certain that they will spot a counterfeit. It's an amusing -- and sad -- spectacle but not a dangerous one. Therefore, it's time to stop fearing this shadow play that was once so real.

Step by step, Barack Obama is returning the country to its senses. Rational adults are in charge. Enormous challenges are being met with moderation, honesty, and candor. That's the real victory, which goes far beyond politics to the very character of America. By embodying those same qualities, all of us mount the best defense against the haunting memory of the reactionary decades when every form of unreason turned this nation into a surreal circus of wrong-doing. In other words, it's just as important to change your response to Fox News as it is to undo the social damage of the Reagan-to-Bush era. Without a new attitude, the same futile tug-of-war will continue.

I am not suggesting that the fate of a Van Jones, driven from his advisory role at the White House by an old-fashioned witch hunt, is anything to smile at. At its most venal, the far right will contract until only the Glenn Becks remain. Sincere, rational conservatives know that this is happening. They cringe when Rep. Joe Wilson shames the entire Republican Party by calling the president a liar in public. They shake their heads when Fox News trumpets toxic nonsense about mandatory abortions under the Obama health plan. When a piece of furniture sits on a base that's too small, it topples over. As the Republican base dwindles to Southern white males and various credulous hangers on, the whole party is set to topple just as inevitably.

But this isn't a post about gloating. A vigorous two-party system is necessary to the body politic. The rights of the minority need protecting, which means not just ethnic minorities but the far right minority. The whiners and grumblers at Fox News will find an audience, just as auto wrecks find rubbernecks on the highway. In place of gloating, we need to exhibit the confidence and good humor of people who have stood on the outside for a long time while protecting the truth, who have spoken truth despite the ethos of lying in Bush's Washington, who understood that the essence of America is and always will be progressive, tolerant, and accepting.

Isn't that reason enough to give Fox News a smile once in a while?

Fox News or (Faux News) has become the official Obama Bashing Network, and it is absolutely appalling how Glenn Beck, Shaun Hannity, etc. tell boldfaced lies. A perfect example is when Shitty Shaun Hannity just yesterday said that President Obama said in his speech on Health Care Reform that insurance excecutives are bad people. What a bunch of BS!@#$%&* An official transcript of President Obama's speech and video clips prove Mr. Hannity is a liar. From the actual transcript of President Obama's Health Care Reform speech he said, "Insurance executives don't do this because they are bad people. They do it because it's profitable." Fox News is in the business of lying, smearing, distorting and doing everything they can in any way they can to discredit or dishonor the 44th President of the United States. This is hateful, disrespectful, disgusting, appalling, embarrassing to our nation and un-American. Regardless of what your political beliefs are, the President of the United States deserves respect. Sorry, Mr. Hannity, but no temper tantrums, lies, smears, name-calling or babbling nonsense will change the fact that Barack Obama is President. Grow up, shut up and get over it! Ditto for Glenn Beck and others who are just the same. In the meantime, I will be watching CNN and MSNBC because I don't have the stomach for one more boldfaced lie out of Shaun Hannity or Glenn Beck's mouth!!!

NO no and no. We must keep our friends close and our enemies even closer. I watch Fox news to see what demented hyperbole they are currently spouting. I even listen to Rush Limpballs on the radio (keeping window open in order to hurl) so I know what that dirtbag is blowing out of proportion. You have to keep an eye on them constantly. As for Anne Coulter, anybody who sucks up to that witch is on the top of my shit list. It is really hard to listen and look at her. My most basic murderous instinct emerge. I wish so bad I could reach through the screen and wring her scrawny neck and pull every hair from her bleach blond head.

Are you watching the same video I am? Its pretty obvious FOX news asked a LT COL his OPINION! FOX news does not offer commentary on what the soldier did or didn't do except repeat what the military put out as information! You understand that every news channel asks people to appear to get other opinions and the news station does not always agree with those opinions, you know that right????

Your apparent need to censor news exposes more about you than you expose about FOX! Are you a communist like Obama?

Any NEWS channel is PROPAGANDA! Be it FOX, CNN, BBC or other letters of ABC. One should not take for granted anything said in any news reports. After we hear anything, we should check it, we have enough ways to find out the real situations by searching the web and comparing sources.

If speaking about presentation of mere bare facts, I would say that FOX presents them in a most reliable way, saying much more truth than other news channels. I know three languages and have friends in many countries, so I can compair and read original sources.
