Che Guevara the Legend
“Why do you admire him”? Asked my friend.
The above question was directed to me by a close compatriot who has been my able and good friend since childhood, he was by my side at the funerals of my late parents and I was his best man at his wedding therefore, this hub was prompted because of the nature, manner and essence of his question because if there is a model of a man who does not belong to the past nor the present but honestly belong to the future then that model of as a man is Che.
ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA.
“He is a communist, a killer, terrorist and a militant so I don’t see the reason why you should keep talking about him” He said.
Ernesto Che Guevara was born in 1928 in Rosario Argentina and he grew up to become a medical doctor so naturally, saving lives was his basic objective as a man and his ideas about the World and World affairs matched with that of the bravest of the braves Fidel Castro Luz, their ideas brought them together so when they first met in Mexico in 1956 and after that particular twelve hours meeting, they became friends and Che’s life however became a significant factor in Cuba’s revolution so the freedom he helped the entire Cuban people achieved led him to so many other countries around the world where he risked his life and fought against oppression, intimidation, imperialism, tribalism and equality among mankind.
Facts about Che...
Name: Ernesto "Che" Guevara
Alias: Che
Country or origin: Argentina
Profession: Medical Doctor,Marxist revolutionary, Author, Intellectual, Guerrilla leader, Diplomat and Military theorist.
Che’s presence in Congo helped strengthened the struggle of the South Africans against the apathy government but his remarkable victories and the fact that so many people began writing and re-writing their histories because of what he helped achieved in Cuba prompted negative thoughts about him. Furthermore, his speeches both in the UN gave room for his critics (Those who were afraid of their own shekel and shadows) to penetrate the walls of humanity and turn gold into silver. Hence they made him an enemy and one to be eliminated at all cost.
To kill a dog my friend, a bad name is given to it so it was not surprising to hear about Che the militant, the communist, the assassin etc and all these names and bad feelings were generated simply because of the impact of the Cuba revolution around the world
Ernesto Che Guevara is not a communist because he believed in true democracy, he believed in equality and freedom for all, he is a Socialist in the capital world so his agitation for the elimination of imperialism in the world turned so many eyes against him but he didn’t mind because he said and I quote; “ I don’t care if I fall so far the person behind me will pick my gun and keep shooting”. Yes! Sometimes, peace and progress cannot be achieved without violence and violence calls for the people’s voice, the people’s idea and the people’s revolution. This is the Che I feel deep down in my heart.
Che was a loving father,a caring and faithful husband who stood for the people therefore, If remembering David for killing Goliath makes me a believer then from the bottom of my heart, I believe that Che Guevara need to be remembered because it was his idea of discrediting the superiority of one race onto another that led to the ambush in Bolivia where he was captured by the armies of the then Bolivian government led by a Dictator and orchestrated by the CIA.
PRISONER OF WAR.
October 9 1967 the day he was executed
They were prisoners of war but were not treated like one instead they were brutally murdered after 24hours of their capture, Che was murdered in cold blood to satisfy the blood thirsty men who were against him simply because of the fact that he stood for oneness and equality. But by killing him, they helped created something larger than life CHE GUEVARA THE LEGEND.
His remains and those of his comrades were buried in a secret grave to cover a grievous crime against mankind but history has its tale about heroes so after 39yrs of his death, history was made.
The secret grave were his remains was buried was uncovered and his remains and those of his comrades exhumed then Che’s was flown to Cuba were he was given a biffing burial and later laid to rest in Santa Clara, one of Cuba’s cities. Therefore, to answer you my dear friend because you see no reason why I should keep talking about a man I do not know but simply heard about. Of course, I did not see him because he was before my time but everyone who believe in fair play and justice will agree with me that Che is always present.
He was a legend, a hero who pushed history and made history therefore, since history remembers great and noble men Che will always be remembered.
Poem for Che...
...If i remember the suffering of my people
I remember the life you led for all the people
Biafrans would have triumphed
Say you were there with them
It was not what history wanted
But you will always be a symbol of truth
So happy to know about your kind
Though the flesh was destroyed
Che the idea lived on
Many hands upheld the fallen gun
Wipe away oppression and imperialism
Gone but not forgotten
Patria or Muerte.
