If I Could Start a Charitable Organization It Would Be Called The Connection

A Dream Come True

Starting a charitable organization that was there to care for the elderly, kids, and animals in a time of need which was almost self sufficient would be a dream come true, There would be solar panels on every roof, large urns and tanks for rainwater, gardens and livestock (not to kill) for food consumption, and the greatest asset of all a chance for all to connect and get back to basics. The ability to pay would not be a concern due to donations and the facility being basically self sufficient.

This hub was inspired by a question submitted by Peggy W asking "If you could start a charitable organization what would it be and why?" Although this hub is definitely on the larger side of charitable organization, it is a dream that would allow so many to feel needed, useful, understand the gifts given by nature never utilized, and that no matter what age or species we can all be of help to one another.

We All Want the Connection or Need a Little Help Every Now and Then

The Facility Itself and Services Provided

The facility would be in the country with different quarters for those looking for an alternative. Like the elderly not wanting to enter an assisted care facility, children who through no fault of their own are left to group housing facilities, and everything from dogs, cats, birds, chickens, goats, etc. who just need a second chance at a good home.

Those that were able would help with everything from picking vegetables from the garden to helping cook supper with the veggies they picked. Gathering eggs from the chicken coops or feeding and cleaning up. There would be a large community center where the elderly could help with homework or the children could help the elderly with new technology. There would be crafts made and a gift shop and online sight where they could be sold to help cover expenses.

Education services along with regular schooling, (public) for the children would be provided on everything from learning to be self sufficient to having a sense of well being and purpose about themselves.

Children would learn that, "Just saying no" to drugs/booze is easy because when they're told it will make them feel good and have a better time, they will reply and know they already feel good because they are high on life and will have a much better time without them. They would also learn to be independent and be on their own, being taught everything from how to cook, DIY maintenance, balancing a check book and creating budgets, to business management and how the facility was run.

The elderly would have a sense of purpose whether helping in the garden, teaching a craft or just giving a hug when needed. They would feel loved. cherished and appreciated as they should instead of just set aside to finish their years where there strengths and abilities are ignored and forgotten.

All the animals would be loved and cared for in ways they probably hadn't seen in their lifetimes, while all along giving the gift needed by so many, of pure unconditional love.

Well that's my charitable organization. A dream probably at best, but one that can't help but make you feel good and that lets you know my reason why. Have an incredible day
