Imagine there's no Bankers

John Lennon - Imagine lyrics provided for educational purposes only.

As a Christian one of the things that immediately struck me when I came to faith was how different the world could have been if traditional, doctrinal, main stream Churchianity had embraced The Beatles when they hit the scene, rather than castigating them.

As it happened they were driven into Eastern religions welcoming arms and became a powerful force against Christ.

Shame on those Churchmen who reacted rather than responded to what they felt.

I have long sung my own edited versions of Beatle songs, like "All you need is Christ " ra de da de da!

The one below in no way changes my respect for what Lennon & McCartney wrote, indeed they are probably the most gifted songwriters of our time, but it tickled my fancy to post some alternatives pertinent to our times...

Imagine there's no Bankers
It's easy if you try
No debt to hound us
No interest rate so high
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no taxes
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to pay or evade
And no tax man too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no politicians
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or quangos
A politician ban
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Hopefully this hub will be received in the same sense of humor that Lennon expressed during his life.

John, Lennon was the greatest cynic of his time and I have tried to stay in step with his traditions. He would have appreciated this hub secretly while screaming "Bugger" LOL

Thanks Dusty, I had visions (nightmares) of Yoko Ono hounding me for the sacrilegious act of perverting his words!

Oh I still my miss John Lennon, and love Paul and feel so sorry for him to have married that nasty horrific women. Now that was a nightmare. Yes, I also can imagine, they wanted a perfect world, and now that they are mostly gone the shock and horror of what is happen now, would mean another wonderful song of the times of today. I enjoyed your hub...

You cannot blame their decision to take the path they took on others. They chose the path that was not of God.

The blame would only lie in the refusal of the establishment to accept that just maybe these guys were a force for good that could be untilised.

We make the same mistake today with folk.

This is awesome John! I have always loved the Beatles and this is an exciting twist. I have personally tried to imagine the world without money. Just think of all the jobs that really don't accomplish anything that would no longer exist because of the absence of money. When people say "You have to work if you want to eat", it would take on a whole new perspective. There wouldn't be any paper trail. People really would have to work. Peace. Allen

There is no doubt that the money industry causes problems, barter would have been a better choice, like you say, no work, no exchange.

I like the new lyrics you put to his song. I remember hearing about him being shot the day after he died in one of my junior high school classes.

Lennon being shot, was one of those defining moments that stand out in life. I was listening to late night radio in London when the news came in, I mourned all night.

      Thanks Eric for the comment!
