Is Trump's Rhetoric Dangerous?

Updated on October 29, 2018

Within less than a week, there has been 10 pipe bombs sent to various Democratic persons. two black men murdered by a white gunman in Kentucky, 11 Jews murdered while worshiping by another gunman, am I missing anything?

CNN claims Trump has something to do with these murders. Fox claims it is not President Trump's fault. But, really, does anyone really believe that the President of the United States who uses nasty, racist, rhetoric constantly has NO influence on those wackos on the fringe that actually believe it? While there is Freedom of Speech, POTUS has a responsibility in the language that he uses at his fan rallies that pump up his weak ego.

Trump does have responsibility to all Americans, not just his right wing fan base that thinks he is second to God. He continually claims to be a president for all Americans, yet, he constantly uses divisive language that subtly approves of how many right wing extremists act. Even the more rational and less extreme Republicans seem to have tacit approval from Trump to use divisive language.

Trump is certainly part of the problem and yet he refuses to think it is. His words do have ramifications and if the person has a mental health problem, he may just start acting out seeing that Trump's hate speech is so prevalent. This person may think they are fulfilling Trump's wishes by bombings and murders against those groups Trump bashes.

How would Trump act if someone tried to bomb or kill his family? Would he just say it was some fringe crazy person who happened to listen to the hate speech against Trump? Trump is provoking and stoking the current political mess and he hopes he benefits.

If Trump would tone his own rhetoric so would many others, yet, he continues to bash and more horrible acts will occur.

I was REALLY hoping Trump would have the balls to punish Saudi Arabia for the murder. I understand he only thinks in terms of money but this was a time to make a stand yet he once again ignored the CIA report altogether. He is like a mafia boss, cold hearted SOB.

Jake, it's true that all voters had a republican option, I acknowledge that. The point I would make is that for whatever reason the sitting president always loses seats in the house, usually in the Senate too. Trump lost a few in the House, that's true, but he gained in the Senate. Your liberal favs, Clinton and Obama, lost in both and as I suspect you are aware, both were re-elected.

PS- I do wish you would stop talking about vets. Vets were one of the groups that got Trump elected and one of the groups that are a huge basis for his support. I'm a vet and I don't feel like he's ever insulted me or other vets. Not being a vet yourself I can see how you would find this hard to understand.

Well T and Leland, I see you're resorting to more false comparisons but it's expected by now and it's actually one of the main reasons why republicans were so decisively beat in the 2018 midterms and just FYI, in most of the districts where the republican incumbent had retired, both the Democratic Candidate and Republican Candidate were Little KNOWN to voters which means they both started out on a LEVEL Playing Field even in RUBY Red districts where many little known republicans were defeated by many little known democrats by huge margins:

Any more excuses as to why you believe the Massive BLUE Wave of Righteousness materialized? I listen to perhaps the biggest unstable, dangerously absurd snowflake on the planet in Donald Trump crying, whining, sobbing and insulting great American military heroes almost everyday on my television, or in a little girl style tizzy twit rant and this crazy, at times incoherent blubbering only serves to make the once great USA even less safe, less secure and less respected by the world and those are just a few more reasons why the republicans were so badly beat in the midterms and why Donald will need a holy miracle to avoid prison which will be very difficult for him considering he's got to be the most un-Christian, dark individual to ever occupy our oval office:

Well Jake, to my knowlege incumbents are much harder to beat in an election than little known challengers! Which begs the question how did Bill Nelson lose his senate seat being a 40 year incumbent?

You are stuck with trying to make a case that Trump is failing when no Democrat dared say Obama was failing when he lost 67 seats in the house yet he was reelected for a second term despite no accomplishments of campaign promises, even more easily will a man who does what he says he will do, Trump, be re-elected!

Well, Leland, to my knowledge, republican voters still had a republican candidate to vote for in ALL congressional districts however, they switched their votes to the progressive side and the Dems still picked up 38 to 40 seats: Dems also flipped about 7 or 8 governorships from Russian Red to Cool Crisp BLUE and Dems picked up about 300 state legislature seats, a Massive Blue Wave of Righteousness indeed:

The ONLY weak performance was the republicans picking up 1 to 2 senate seats in HIGHLY 'fixed' republican districts:

Almost Innumerable valid reasons to HATE Trump so take your pick, his sabotaging of our healthcare system and insults toward our military heroes just to name two reasons off the top of my head and if the unthinkable happens and he somehow escapes impeachment and or indictment, that would be an alarming indication of a collapse of our judicial system here in the USA:

The republicans had 40 congressman retire from the House, so that's not saying much for liberals who picked up some of those seats. Also, Trump actually gained Senate seats, something neither Clinton or Obama did in their first year mid term elections. It means very little that dems won some seats back in the House. It happens every election cycle. It's a natural political equilibrium. It wasn't a blue wave, tsunami, etc. At best it was a blue ripple, one that will quickly dissipate when President Trump is re-elected.

Also, all this talk of impeachment is just so far fetched. If you guys hate Trump, what will you think of Pence as president once Trump is impeached? tsk tsk- not thinking very far ahead or clearly for that matter.

Right Perrya, what makes you a liberal is how you just mischaracterized what I think about Trump and then falsely claiming anyone thinks because you disagree with Trump’s personality or other things that is what makes you a liberal!

That is what liberals do, present false premises to detract from admitting the truth - you are a liberal and you just proved it yourself.

The comments below make Trump sound like Shrek. Get Out of my Swamp Fairy Tale Creatures. It will be interesting to know the pipeline between Fox News and the White House and others in the creation of false news stories. The Caravan Story and the false narrative that George Sorros was financing them seemed to be in lock step. This lead to the death of those in the Jewish community. It has played a part in several other incidents and this started even before he was elected.

Just because I allow comments I may not agree with does not mean I concur. And no, I do not think sanctuary cities are good and believe ICE should not be screwed over by cities like that. Kathleen: A silver lining is the number of people who agree with Mr. Trump is SHRINKING rapidly thank God and that has been well documented:

30 to 40 House seats won by DEMs, at least 6 to 8 Governorships Flipped to Refreshing Blue by DEMS, over 300 nationwide districts were dominated by DEMS and who knows, the DEMs may have lost none or perhaps maybe one seat in the senate: MAJOR Democratic Liberal VICTORY:

A Democratic BLUE Tsunami of Righteousness has Washed Away much of the radical right wing hate mongering, white nationalism, racism, misogyny, insanity and attacks on our healthcare system, social security and medicare: Although there is a long way to go, and impeachment and or indictment is imminent for the oval office impostor who simply disregards our constitution and laws either by ignorance or uncontrollable narcissistic tendencies, at least now we have a BLUE Democratic Congress that can at least MITIGATE the reckless republican hate and destructive insanity until that monumental joyous event occurs, which must be soon for the sake of democracy and the crumbling USA:

You bet we agree with his rhetoric which is 99% about everything he promised he would do when he ran for office and is doing to make America great.

If you listened to all his speeches and all his promises you'd realize all his "rhetoric" is purely about that and not the quips people like you cherry pick out of context and spin to try and make gullible unreasoning people dislike him.

The rhetoric he uses is defined as the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing. There is no question if you listened to his speeches in entirety he uses this rhetoric very well while people like you and Perry falsely paint his rhetoric as regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content, devisive, racist, or discriminatory which couldn't be farther from the truth!

What is really dangerous is people like you who are blindly loyal to liberal agendas and have no respect for the truth.

True, T. According to Perry, since he believes so strongly in our "rights," as Americans, he also must support our rights to Freedom of choice and movement. Thus, if someone "chooses" to murder, rape or rob someone on Perry's property, he doesn't have a responsibility to "monitor" these actions or do anything about them......because, well, that idiot has the right to go where they want and do what they choose, no matter how insane, vile or stupid. (No doubt Perry is all for Sanctuary Cities!)

At the end of the day, it's beneficial for the rest of us, who are NOT insane, vile or stupid, to know who those morons are who will support the insane, vile & stupid as having their rights! The rest of us will be responsible, sane and protective against all the crazies.....here to remind the Loons, "NO, your insane, vile, stupid behavior has just NEGATED your rights and you damned sure will not commit your crimes on MY property!" This is OK. Those of us with brains, can carry the responsibilities of the brainless. No problem. We need only say, "Bye Bye" to Mr. Coward.

If you have children, Perry, I certainly hope they would always love and respect you despite what others may think and say about you.

Yes, Freedom of speech is one of our many rights/privileges....Great to be an American. Some of us also enjoy the ability, intellect and common sense to know when to firmly reject the stupidity of others.

I wish you and yours a wonderful Holiday Season, which is approaching quickly. I have enjoyed following you in the past but will no longer be reading your work. Interesting bunch of comments. Ahh, Freedom of Speech. There are facts and fake facts. Facts about Trump are: the economy is great, so far, the test is will it be sustained. As to health care, seems Trump is letting it remain for now, but at least the mandatory law forcing everyone to get it is gone, that is good. The caravan is around 3500 not some 10000, and of course, there are some criminal elements in it. It is true that it did start as a way to embarrass trump, I doubt if Trump will deploy 15000 combat soldiers, its BS, that is more than in Afghanistan and would cost hundreds of millions. Nonsense. It is true Trump uses inflammatory language that is vile at times to stir emotion on both sides for different reasons. Many who did vote for him find this aspect disgusting, as well as his general personality and demeanor. He is just the kind of guy that is an asshole most of the time, stuck in his ways like an old man that he is from another generation. Those people do not change. I feel sorry for his son, what does he think?

That the international vampire, Soros, has dumped billions of dollars into organizations providing money to immigrants in central America, mud hut Africa, and anywhere Muslims live (often called 'Syrians,' despite most being Pakistani or Afghan) is absolute fact.

That Soros is the most well known of the persons seeking the downfall of all things white Western culture, is simply another fact.

From the stories that are on going on it sounds like the fake news story of George Sorros supporting the cravans was the catalyst for the person shooting 11 jewish people. The fact that Trump has been running in line with this story supporthe idea he was behind it. Another story claims a government web site was also running the story and was taken down and 2 people were relieved pending investigation as well. This webb site was from the White House but even the News agency's refuse to run the story any further why, you can ask them? A week before the mid terms no one wants to escalate the matter. Why anyone would think killing 11 people retired from life would further some goal is baseless insanity. Its sad, sick and yes fake news played a part regardless of politics and it stinks no matter what you think. I hope the story never dies and we decide to end this tradgedy with truth someday soon.

And to answer the question once again "Is Trump's Rhetoric Dangerous" the answer is absolutely YES and that's just indicative of the mega- crisis our crumbling country is now mired in with Bozo perched in our oval office: His crazy right wing white nationalist rhetoric inspired the weirdo "MAGA" pipe bomber and the crazy right wing maniac mass shooter at the synagogue in PA just to name a few:

I don't see Paula and T running to HP to tattle. I see them handling your insults like adults. If you don't like it you don't have to engage, but what you're doing is antagonizing people with your disrespectful antics, then reporting them when they respond. I don't feel a need to report you to HP because if you bother me that much I can always just not respond to you. You have the same option, but you don't take it. I don't think President Trump is afraid of anyone. He made himself a national target when he accepted the job. He didn't have to run you know. His life was cake before this. He did it because he cares about our country and our people. I think it's naïve to think its Honduran women and children coming here. I think a lot of the children are victims of human trafficking at the worst, at best they will be used as human shields. Part of the problem with extreme leftists is that they don't go to the source when they hear a news report. For example, I read several headlines about how President Trump is threatening violence against the illegals coming from South America, yet I heard the speech the President gave regarding the issue and nothing could be further from the truth. He talked about how this "peaceful" group that's coming up has already wounded several Mexican police/military personnel and that, yes, he is sending troops to the border to defend it. Any sovereign nation has that right: Mexico has that right and makes use of it. Canada has that right and makes use of it. President Trump went on to say how he wants immigrants to come here "we need them" he said. "We need their help. We have lots of jobs in the US that are waiting to be filled, and we want immigrants, but they have to apply to get in. We can't allow them to cut in front of all the immigrants that did apply, the ones that are going about it legally." The President also stated that violence is the last thing he wants and he hopes the mob coming from SA will be reasonable. He also said, "they're not getting in. They are wasting their time." Don't you think they should be reasonable and turn back? Why would they keep coming? If they continue to come they will find in Trump a man who means what he says, unlike his predecessors. So you see Jake, this is just one issue and all issues as represented by the media are going the same way. T and Paula aren't snowflakes. Read their articles and commentary, you'll see what I mean. I wish you the best. I hope you change your mind.

These people like Jake and Perry don't have arguments to support their position they just argue. And they don't argue the issue, they argue in the style of attacking anyone with a different view, and they attack without using facts, they name call, they deflect from answering questions. I have a whole article where they totally avoided answering any questions about the topic, even when the topic was their creation.

They are like the soldier that was cut off from the news that the war was over, so they keep fighting just because they just don't know what is going on.

      Leland

Your comment and their response is a perfect example of how they can't directly answer anything.

"Perry- So when a Bernie Sanders supporter shot several congressmen at a baseball game was it because of Sanders or was it just a nut with a gun? Do you apply the same standards to others or do you limit your ideologic beliefs to Trump?"

Neither Jake nor Perry answered the question, they deflected and rattled on about Trump.

And hp is so biased they listen to people like Jake, who is allowed to attack the president, but doesn't like it when people ask him to answer a question.

Jake says he is from the 4th planet from the Sun.

"n the minds of readers and writers of science fiction and fantasy since H. G. Wells's War of the Worlds, Mars has been the hottest of topics. The fourth planet from the sun is the confirmed obsession of millions of Earthlings, and it is not a fixation that will go away."

      B:

We can't assume that he is referring to our Sun, because he is usually vague and ambiguous in his writing.

      ----------------------------------------------------

Somehow he seems to be getting SS and Medicare because he is worried the Trump and the republicans are going to cut him off.

Fact: SS benefits increased by 2% this year, and will increase by another 2.9% next year thanks to president Trump and the republicans.

The only people not covered by health insurance were those people that Obamacare taxed for not getting insurance. Now thanks to Trump and the republicans there is no tax on people that DON'T want healthcare insurance.

We can only hope he does not deal in any capacity with the public. And as for the Military? The alleged victim of the alleged mocking was even interviewed and said he didn't know for sure if Trump mocked him, only that he was fairly sure Trump knew he was handicapped because he thought Trump knew who he was from prior press engagements. I do agree with you on one point- we should not be conversing. However, I'll leave you with one last chance to answer my questions about whether you're employed or if you've ever served in the military. Your repeated dodges suggest no to both.

Yeah Leland, I'll bet a few Trump cultees believe you but that's about it: I've stopped trying to have genuine conversation with right wingers like you who deny facts and refuse to accept the truth, it's just an exercise in futility which I don't have the least bit desire to engage in:

Just FYI, Bozo trump did mock a disabled person which was despicable, it was caught on film and you should google it someday, just one reason why the U.N. laughed at him during his strange, creepy bizarre narcissistic speech a few weeks ago, and if you are telling the truth and have indeed worked a full time job in the USA you'd better hope a blue wave of progressive truth slams on republicans next Tuesday or those retirement benefits you've earned will be in serious jeopardy, republican "Mutt" McConnell warned you he and republicans are gunning for your social security and medicare:

I've worked full time for more than half my life. You didn't answer my question. Are you employed? BTW- he didn't mock anyone that was disabled. Never happened. What he said about McCain- it was because he didn't like the man. I'm a veteran and I know Trump respects all vets from actually listening to his speeches, not edited soundbytes from MSNBC. PS- are you a veteran?

I've heard this nonsense ad nauseam from the right wing Leland and it's beyond ridiculous at this point: First of all, I think readers take me seriously because I talk the truth unlike a Bozo Clown in the white house who mocks the disabled, says he likes people who weren't captured during war etc etc etc:

As for ObamCare aka the ACA, it now insures approximately 20 million more Americans who didn't have health insurance prior to the law: YES, I understand we still have many more Americans who need to be insured but ObamaCare is a start which can be built upon, unlike SABOTAGING it in the criminal manner Bozo Trump and republicans are trying so desperately to do:

If you've ever worked a full time job in the USA Leland, you'd better hope and pray the republicans LOSE in a tidal wave of blue on Tuesday otherwise your healthcare, social security and medicare will be in dire straights as republican "Mutt" McConnell will begin action to STRIP you and your family of all said essentials:

Jake- what do you mean the left is "fighting for all Americans to be insured." What do you call the passage of Obamacare? Didn't that insure "all" Americans had insurance? No! Finally, I am really tired of your disrespectful tone, calling the President of the United States "bozo." If you want to be taken seriously and have adult conversation on political issues, or any issue for that matter, drop the ridiculous speech and use your mind to better articulate your positions.

Really? Like when President Obama promised everyone their insurance premiums would be reduced and would save the average American $2500 annually, yet instead Obamacare drastically raised premiums, even causing over 2 million Americans to lose their healthcare? What world are you living in, Jake? In addition to that, if people didn't sign up for Obamacare they were initially fined $600 then that fine increased yearly. I have relatives that are on a fixed income, retired, and had only $200 per month in disposable income. Obamacare ate that up, plus increased their deductible for any surgery to $7,000. They could never afford that high a deductible, very few could, so in reality what's the difference between having insurance premiums and deductibles so high you can't pay them and not having insurance at all? Nothing! Oh there is one exception- if you didn't have insurance under Obamacare you got fined for it! So it was Obama that went after the poor in our society and harmed them, not Trump. FACT: Thanks to Trump's tax cuts I am bringing home about $100 more per month. Trump's government is taking less away from American workers and that's a good thing. Jake, I'm surprised you didn't know that..unless you don't work. Are you employed?

Nut cases aside, a primary difference is that the left is fighting to ensure ALL Americans have health insurance, adequate health care and can maintain a respectable living when they retire and receive earned benefits like social security and medicare, while the right extremists which includes white nationalists aka neo-nazis are fighting to take all that away and give it to filthy rich elitists: Just the FACTS:

There are nut cases on both sides and extremists. These people already have a perverted view of things and for some the hate rhetoric will be all they need to act.

Although Trump's hate speech and utter insane actions are a concern for ALL Americans, Independent voters in droves are not dumping Trump necessarily for this alone, they are dumping him as millions of others are from all parties because of his insane assault on our healthcare system and what will soon be his and republican's assault on our social security and medicare if God forbid republicans maintain control of our congress:

Perry- So when a Bernie Sanders supporter shot several congressmen at a baseball game was it because of Sanders or was it just a nut with a gun? Do you apply the same standards to others or do you limit your ideologic beliefs to Trump?

I am sure Trump's advisers feel like parents to a 70-yr old teenager and feeling frustrated that he seldom follows advice. He is a rebellious old man and for many, it is an attraction, but toning down the hate speech and other stupid comments, would certainly help his approval ratings among those independent voters who he needs.

Bozo traitor Trump needs to be impeached, indicted or both and sentenced to life imprisonment or worse along with guilty family members for incitement of violence, treason against the USA and all additional crimes: We need make an example of him and then make constitutional amendments to ensure this crazy insane situation never happens again:

It's UNREAL and Surreal that an entire nation called the once great USA must be forced to endure a crazy mentally ill nut case like Bozo Trump: We now live in the twilight zone and how long this nightmare will last is still undetermined: Hopefully not for much longer so we can pick up the pieces of what's left of this crumbling country:

If Trump were to tone down his rhetoric, many fringe right wing activists would, admittedly, stop responding to it with violence. However, their hate will not just disappear. In other words, Trump did not simply conjure hate out of thin air. He only legitimized what already existed. In order to stop the hate and violence, it needs to be addressed directly. I am not pretending to have a solution, but I do not think an alteration in Trump's language will solve the problem. It will only make the problem harder to see for those who are not directly impacted by it.
