It Takes A Carter To Get A Reagan

Updated on March 20, 2014

Thank goodness we didn't give Jimmie Carter a chance to do what the present occupant of the White House is doing. What's that? Not much besides destroying this nation both internally and in the eyes of our many allies, not to mention our enemies, around the world. At this point I'm sure Ronald Reagan has been flipping over like a hotcake in his grave. Obama might want to stop riding side saddle and wake up to the fact that the world is still a dangerous place.

Bill Clinton woke up to that fact but not until after he had decimated the strength of our armed forces. There is much to be said about "strength through deterrence." It isn't about being a bully, which I think Obama has equated this nation to during mental midget life, but about keeping the peace. Having spent my 23 years of my early adult life being a warrior I understand exactly what Carter did and what Reagan had to undo. I served during the tenures of both men. One was weak and one projected strength and backed it up when he had to.

Lets revisit an open mike clip once more before moving forward.

Greater Flexibility Huh?

I'm not a fan of Valdimir Putin by any means but he is absolutely playing the President of the United States like a chump. Maybe he is a chump by all appearances. One of the first accolades Obama received was being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing and I mean nada thing. Putin was just among the nominees for this year's prize and it won't surprise me in the least if he wins it. That's how much that Cracker Jack prize means anymore.

So this past Monday the EU foreign ministers met in Brussels and wagged their limp fingers in Obama's face while imposing the same limped wristed sanctions Obama decided he's implementing. That had the folks in the Kremlin laughing in their vodka right in the face of the supposed leader of the free world. I use the term "leader" rather loosely when dealing with Obama.

Oh boy! They suspended the privileges of 21 Russian elites to match, and maybe outdo, the 11 that Obama decided he was going to spank. They instituted an asset freeze and travel ban. Whoopie! Like those people aren't smart enough to have moved their assets and could care less about their next casino visits.

With a real leader like Putin you don't send flexibility messages. Obama showed his hand and Putin is a much better gambler than Obama will ever be. We're sitting here with the Ukraine on the verge of war with Russia, the black flags of Al Qaeda flying all over the country of Libya after having four American diplomats killed there and Syria not complying with a supposed brokered peace between Russia and this country to give up all chemical weapons and we have Obama riding side saddle. North Korea continues its nuclear saber rattling and Iran is about to have nuclear weapons. That must be driving John Wayne bonkers in heaven right now too.

So here we are with a complete novice occupying the Whine House acting like he knows what he is doing. He doesn't. Is there any doubt that a guy like Putin decided long ago that the west is weak and getting weaker as Obama displays his "flexibility"?

A study of history, actual history which most liberal minds like to ignore, should make one thing perfectly clear about one Vladimir Putin. There are historic arguments being used concerning Crimean succession. That's a fact and those very same arguments were used by Adolf Hitler used to invade and justify his annexation of Czechoslovakia and Poland back in the late 1930's. Annexation at the end of a gun is what it really is. Nobody stopped Hitler and now who is going to stop Putin? Rhetorical question with an obvious answer.

While Obama is out on the links with how many clubs in his golf bag, Putin is out there with only his lone club in his hand. It's called sheer, brute force and he knows exactly how to use it. He has an "energy need" weapon he is using like the master he is to force Europe to comply. What is Obama doing about that? Not a thing because he has to appease his environmental pantie waste supporters in his base. Enough politics already Obama! Your whole shtick is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place so don't try to blame it on someone else. You WERE NOT paying attention Barack Hussein Obama! PERIOD! While you've been fiddling with your political agenda the world has been burning.

There hasn't been anything done yet since Putin rolled his tanks and troops into Crimea that is going to cause Vladimir Putin the least bit of discomfort - NOTHING. There isn't much our NATO allies can do other than wag their finger in Obama's face for "not seeing it coming." Don't they realize that Obama is still too busy campaigning for an office he won't ever hold again? The EU is in dire economic straits because of their socialistic bent and has largely dismantled its own armed forces and relied upon ours as much as possible.

Now Obama and that jerk who they allowed to be appointed as our Secretary of Defense want to yield the ax to our own forces. Couple that with having an anti-war protesting traitor as the Secretary of State and shake well. Someone better wake the heck up and fast. So instead we send our Crazy Uncle Joe Biden to Poland to stand in front of that Baltic government making another monumental gaffe. Is it any wonder a thug like Putin thumbs his nose at this administration?.

Well we elected someone far worse than Carter, not once but twice, and we see the see the result of letting people who have no business voting in the first place going to the polls for a popularity contest. Being a patriotic American has never been a popular thing. But it will always be a necessary thing if this nation is to survive people like Barack Hussein Obama and his breed of liars and misfits.

HARSH? You bet it is and the truth right to its core.

The Frog Prince

Obama will never get it. He's more than willing to take down bullies who have no choice but to be bullies (e.g., Mubarak, who was trying to prevent Egypt from collapsing into lethal factional chaos). But when a big bully like Putin makes a bad move, Obama seriously thinks freezing the assets of a dozen apparatchiks is going to do anything? Putin can just print and distribute the frozen loot. The only thing Putin understands is force. And we have the capabilities to project force in the Ukraine (but that would be too "un-dainty" for Obama). And no, in spite of Putin's posturing, he is not going to nuclear if we interfere, because he knows have more strategic nukes than he does. The crisis here is that the Crimean split-off could just be a precursor to the complete annexation of the Ukraine. And after that, rebuilding the iron curtain. This will force very rapid military consolidation in Europe, and could lead to major hostilities between German led European forces and the Russia/China axis. A strong US show of commitment regarding Crimea could have averted this potential scenario (e.g., a naval presence with fighter aircraft). The mere appearance of this might have made Putin back off. But Putin's smart, and he knows Obama doesn't the the nerves for high stakes poker. If Obama was President in the early 60's, we would have Russian ICBM's in Cuba pointed at New York and Washington. No, JFK was not perfect, but he understood how to deal with bullies. Kennedy knew that if you give a bully anything, he'll just come back for more. Obama's light sanctions against Russia are a signal that we are scared to get involved, and Putin's reading the signal loud, clear, and accurately.

One day you'll see this for what it is. A real life Soap Opera. The Presidents don't run a darn thing. Carter was bad. Reagan was worse. If he was so great how come he "couldn't recall" anything at the end of his presidency. I'll tell you why, because he sat by and watched thousands upon thousands of South Americans get murdered during all the Contra madness. Ask the people in the US that had to live through all the new drugs coming into the community how much they like Reagan. Some people do love Reagan because Reagan set the blue print for how to get away with murder, imperialism and genoside in the modern day. What a great man. Let's name some airports and highways after him...

Obama's actions and non-actions have emboldened Putin and others like him. Putin knows he has nothing to fear from the former proud USA. Crimea is only his first stop. Apparently, this nation doesn't care if illegals vote or people vote 10 times. It's the voters without brains that put the rest of us in harm's way twice. Up and awesome!

One time I entered a field of play. Football against the State Champs and we were a small school. Our starter was injured early so I played nose guard for we had a team but my job was the middle. "plug the danged right and left of center." I did my job and we won. Democracy and America is not about doing everyone elses' job but doing your own.

tsadjatko - When I owned my own business I hired and trained vets when I needed more employees. With a few exceptions, they had a great work ethic, worked hard, followed orders, and were a great asset to my company. Fortunately the person that bought my company kept every one of them on the payroll and working. More companies should take advantage of the training and attitude of our brave veterans.

You have a point Mike, after Benghazi I have often thought that was the last straw. When they can't tell the truth about what happened to cause the unnecessary death of patriots and lie solely to win an election there is no way I would encourage anyone's son or daughter to subject themselves to their incompetence and the disrespect of the military (and their families) this administration has demonstrated.

I used to believe everyone should be required to serve their country in the military for a couple years because it would produce a more disciplined, mature and informed population and be good for America from every point of view, but now I would never support that approach, not that it would ever be on the table.

The greatest guarantor of peace is the fear one's enemies have of going to war. It is not military might that wins wars but the will of a people to fight. The United States is losing the will and the ability to fight, while China, Russia and Iran are preparing to fight. We needn't fear Britain, France or Germany, they have no competing interests with us and our alliance is much more rewarding. We have many enemies and as Obama and lefties weaken us the more those enemies will gain the will to fight, just as Obama is insuring our inability to stop them.

Based on the way this administration is treating the Military, it will not be too long before we need to utilize the draft system again. I doubt many will be that anxious to enlist after seeing how poorly our vets are treated these days.

I personally believe this reduction in Military strength is just part of a plan, but that is just me. I trust absolutely nothing this administration does or will do. That goes for both sides of the aisle as they are equally bad.

As President Ronald Reagan pointed out, the bully does not pick on those who are strong. The bully picks on those who are weak or are perceived to be weak. The reason we have had to fight wars (and always enter a war with an ill-prepared military) is because we tend to gut our military every 20 years or so.

I have stopped thinking of Zero as being Carter-like and begun to think of him more like Vidkun Quisling, particularly since his comment to Medevev about being "more flexible" following the election. All of Zero's attacks upon American ideals can be seen in a new light by thinking of him as a quisling! I even posted an image of the two side by side on my Facebook page!

I really hate people's reasoning. We have more than we need in military strength and all for looking like whoosies (?) to the rest of the world. Our military strength is what has given us a country of security and assurance that no one dares attack us. Now I am not sure what we look like but I do not like it. None of this has been done by a man wanting peace; but a man wanting to destroy our power in the world; and he has done a fine job, I must say.
