Welcome to our article (84), world news and my views, Feb. 2018

Dear readers, today we have better news to tell you. In our previous articles, we were afraid that a nuclear war could have happened, between America and North Korea. But strange as it may seem that is calmed down, in fact, today the good news is that North Korea is going to take part in the winter Olympiad in South Korea. This may not seem much, but it can be a start for better relations all around. So, the old Greek belief that the Olympiads were made to keep peace between people, is still working. Since people can challenge other people on the sporting fields, instead of waging wars and killing each other. Anyhow, we hope it works, and from this peaceful event better relations will come.

The winter games have been opened. I have watched the opening ceremony last evening; it was a beautiful ceremony as expected. No negative events were reported; but there are rumours that two impersonators of Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un were thrown out of the ceremony; anyhow the rumours were not true, since I have seen the two impersonators shake hands on TV.

Anyhow, today, I am editing and bringing the winter game news up to date, the medal count is starting to show that it is always the same, the north European countries are doing well as usual. We hope that the countries that we follow will win enough medals to make us proud, while we continue to watch the games.

Anyhow, this is all for the time being, we will come back to write about some of those important events, since most of the world is watching the games, so, they are worth to have a record. So, once we have a medal count list, I will paste it in this article, so, I can have a permanent record for myself.

Now, let me talk about what else is on my mind; the winter games are what most of the world is following today; but for me there is also something else to follow. You see, because I am an Italian; today I am following the 2018 Italian elections, so, let us say something about them, hoping that some of the Italian people will read them.

Dear readers, this article about the Italian elections, is not just for the Italians, but it should be read with a view, that what is happening in Italy now, is happening in other parts of the world as well, so, whatever can be said about Italy, it can apply to other parts of the world. Anyhow, I have to say here that this article will be a long article, since I plan to edit and add other issues as they happen. Now, let me start writing this article about the Italian elections.

I am an Italian emigrant, that migrated to Australia in the sixties. For this reason, I am following the 2018 Italian elections, perhaps more closely than most people do outside Italy, because I can still vote in these elections, so, I want to know what I am voting for.

Now, that is not the only reason, I am following the elections, because there are also some personal reasons, since what is happening in Italy today, for me personally defies logic reasoning. When I say defies logic reasoning, I think of the ways today politicians use to justify many things, and it is here, that I see many distorted half-truths; so, to tell you the truth, I am worried, so, let me explain what I see hereunder, but before I do that let me say this.

This Italian election article perhaps should have been written in the Italian language, because it could be easier to explain things that were written in Italian in the first place. Now, while this article aims at explaining to the entire world what I see, it is the Italian people that should read the message it conveys, so, they can see what some of the Italian people overseas see.

So, let us start from the beginning; during this political campaign, these politicians talk too much for their own good, they must know, that every time they say something, there are people that will applaud them, because they like the idea, but at the same time there are people that are hurt, from what they are saying. Having said that, now let me talk about those things that hurt me most, because those are the things that one cannot forget.

Anyhow, what follows here, is my reaction to some news that I read on the internet, or the media in general. Now, I must say that some of my comments that follow, may not be 100% right, but it is what I feel that counts in this article, since I want to point out, how we that left Italy to emigrate, now we see the reverse in emigration, which in my mind it cannot be right. But that is not all, you see, sometimes it is the way that the politician put it that hurts us most.

One politician without distinguishing, the past emigrants with today immigration, had the guts to say, that the Italian that are leaving Italy to find work abroad, are those Italians that don’t want to work, in other words they are vagabonds that drift around to avoid work. This is false, because if you don’t want to work, the best place to avoid work is to stay where you are born, because there you find the way how to survive. You see, once you go abroad, you must work hard to earn your living, if you don’t work hard, you will end up in all sorts of trouble. I can say this for sure, because I am an emigrant myself, so, I have been there and done it. Therefore, the politician that said, the people that leave Italy are vagabonds is wrong.

Now, since we are talking about emigrants, whether they are coming or going let us try to understand, how they can affect everything involved. So, first let me describe the reasons why I left Italy, when I was young.

The reasons that I emigrated to Australia was this; I was working in our small family farm, where we were earning very little, but worse of all for us workers, it was that many farming machines were coming out, which replaced most of the manual work that we did in the farm, so, it became evident that only those people that had a large farm, would be able to buy these machines to continue farming; the rest of us had to change job, for this reason I left Italy and migrated to Australia.

Anyhow, even today Italy is still having employment problems, there are too many Italians that have no work. So, there are problems to solve, but somehow, they manage; however, for the Italians, today it is not necessary to emigrate to earn a living, in fact, there are lots of people that want to emigrate to Italy.

Now, having emigrated myself, as I have explained above and having a fair understanding of what can be achieved, this in-coming illegal immigration can be a big problem. So, the refugees’ problem that exist today puts the living standard of Italy at risk.

Today the Italian government helps thousands of refugees, most of them are from the continent of Africa, they are running away from their native land, they are in search of a better standard of living; they see Italy and the continent of Europe as their promised land, where everything will be given to them for free, just because they are human beings. Anyhow, this is how I see them, and I don’t like it.

Because, the question here is this, will this helping these refugees, create a problem later for the Italians themselves? Some answers to this question can be found in what is happening already now.

In Macerata, after some emigrants murdered an Italian girl, an Italian extremist shot six coloured people back, this is how the media reported the event, and I quote:

An Italian gunman with extreme right-wing sympathies shot and wounded six African immigrants Saturday in a two-hour drive-by shooting spree, authorities said, terrorizing a small Italian city where a Nigerian man had been arrested days earlier in a teenager's gruesome killing.

Police photos showed the shooting suspect with a neo-Nazi tattoo prominently on his forehead as he sat in custody and an Italian flag tied around his neck as he was arrested in the central Italian city of Macerata. Authorities identified him as Luca Traini, a 28-year-old Italian with no previous record.

I believe that, this tragic event can be the beginning, so, it is very likely that other nasty things can happen soon; but I hope I am wrong.

Anyhow, a send question is this; what are the Italian politicians doing to solve this refugees’ problem? Here, I am afraid that I must say that they don’t know what they are doing. Since every one of them come up with a solution that is no solution at all. We can say here that the only thing they are saying clearly, is that the other parties have no solutions; but what they are going to do themselves is left unanswered, or it is an answer that could make things worse. This situation is unacceptable, because important things like the refugees need to be solved. So, let us look at today political ways and things that could come.

We know for a fact, that Italy is a nation of about 60 million people, it has many political parties. But they are trying to group some parties together, anyhow, looking from far away Australia, I believe that there are three main political groups in Italy now; every one of these groups wants to win the election with a majority vote by themselves; but most likely that will not happen.

Having said that, now let us see what these groups are, their main players, and what they want to do: anyhow, the main groups are: The Centre Left, The Centre Right, and the Movement 5 stars. This is how we understand the Italian political parties are grouped today.

Now, because of what is happening in the world today, and because some political parties welcome these endless arrival of refugees, there are reasons to believe that we must be concerned, about what can happen in the future; so, we want to state our point of view, and how we see the future of these happenings.

Anyhow, I am saying that the greatest concerns that I have, it is the way the present Italian government, handle the present immigration crisis, since they don’t have a policy how to stop or control them.

I believe that it is necessary to do something about it, because if nobody does anything, the time will come when they will be sorry for it. Let me say this the easy way, uncontrolled emigration needs to be stopped as soon as possible, because if we ignore it, one day in the future nasty things can happen, and those things will happen to those countries that don’t control emigration.

Since we are talking about the Italian elections, let us talk about the main political figures. So, hereunder we are going to paste their photos, where we will write a short comment; these comments are only our personal comments, where we state the way we see them, you will be the judge and say whether our comments are right or wrong. I believe that I should start with the highest leaders, and then about the three groups that have formed, in the hope of having enough vote to be able to govern. So, let us see who they are and what they stand for:

Anyhow, I said that I will comment about them. But I want to warn you, that my comments will be harsh, since I don't like many things that they are doing. Anyhow, hereunder are the photos of politician of group one, with short comments below them, followed by a main comment at the end.

These political leaders shown above, they all belong to the present government, they are known as the centre left. They have formed a group for the oncoming elections; they are representing a party, that the main slogan is; Free and equal. This slogan for me means, that they want the Italian people to accept the incoming illegal immigrants, as being equal to the Italians, to me this sounds as being out of touch from reality; so, let me explain, how I see this issue.

Now, if I let my own reaction talk; I will say that they have lost their minds. You see, all the existing life on earth, bases its welfare on the assumption that they can defend themselves from any danger, it is one of those instinct that mother nature has given us to survive; so, we will fight even to death if we must, this is done to preserve our own lives, and nobody can say anything about our rights to fight for our lives; But some of the Italian political parties want to change that, they want the Italian people to accept the danger that these illegal emigrant may bring, when they come.

You see, it stands to logic reasoning, that any form of life that sees danger, must react to save itself, if it does not react to it, it can be destroyed, and the result will be chaos. Then it will be like living in a hopeless mad world.

So, in my view, those people that propose this ‘free and equal’ policy, must have lost their reasoning mind, or they have a distorted sense of reality.

Now, this group of people above belong to the present government, so, the voters are warned to be careful when they vote.

Having talked about the first group, let us look at the second group.

This second group is formed from people, that have been in government before this present government was voted in; they are known as the centre right. The main leaders are Silvio Berlusconi, Matteo Salvini and Giorgia Meloni. This group seems to me that they want to control the incoming refugees, for me this makes sense, because if the refuges are not controlled, now and in the future, there can be nasty problems.

So, since I am concerned about the refugees, it is very likely that I would vote for this group.

If this group wins the election, it is most likely that Matteo Salvini will be the president (or prime minister) of the Italian lower chamber. While, Silvio Berlusconi will remain the president of his own party ‘Forza Italia’ and at the same time when necessary, suggest to Salvini what to do; Georgia Melony being the leader of a smaller party, she is unlikely to become premier. Well, what I have said is only a possible outcome and there can be changes as happens in politics.

This group is formed from: Luigi Di Mio, Beppe Grillo and Davide Casaleggio.

This political party is not really a group, but it is a political movement, that now has reached the status of being a large political party. They are going to this election by themselves, and I think they are going to do well. But because they have never been in power, it is a bit of a concern for some people. Anyhow, their leader is Luigi Di Maio, which would become the prime minister (President) of Italy if they win the elections There is also Beppe Grillo and Davide Casaleggio the son of Gianroberto Casaleggio, the x founder of the party, but they are not really going to the parliament, at least this is how I understand it today.

Anyhow, this party is a new way of politics, born from a movement that is not happy about the present-day politics of other parties, so, we could say that they are trying to change politics, but will they be able to change politics for the better, if they are voted in, it remains to be seen. We will have some answers after the 4^th of March.

I have written this long article this time, in the hope that some people read it, and react to it, and do something about it. Because I can see that real problems in the future can happen. One of the reasons is the direction some parties are taking; and the other is the large number of refugees that Italy and Europe take in.

So, here we are going to say something that we see coming, if the politicians don’t plan properly what they are doing, we see that terrible things will happen. What could happen you may ask. Well this is hard to say today, we could only say that there are signs all around that all is not well.

Now, because this is something that can happen in the future, we can only imagine what could happen. Now, because this article is already long enough, we will talk about this in our next article, where we will talk about our alarming vision, in the hope that it can be prevented. Anyhow, let us see first what happens at the Italian elections 2018.
