Tevya is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Our dear friend, Wasp Tevya, is at the breakfast table. He has asked me to invite all of you to a delicious breakfast of potato pancakes and home-made applesauce. I will be whipping up a batch of Irish Coffees for one and all. Tevya is more than a little confused. At one point, not too long ago, the nation was in the midst of enduring one ugly scandal after another. Certain members of Congress got all bent out of shape and promised to get to the bottom of the mess. Did they? Tevya doesn't think so and I have no idea what is actually going on either. Please join us this morning while we kick some ideas around about the state of our nation.

Thank you all for joining me this morning. I have heard the expression that "silence is deafening" but I really didn't understand it until now. I sat down the other day and made a list of scandals that have been plaguing this nation. I went through each item on the list and could not find one that has been resolved. Remember Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the "prisoner" who President Obama swapped in exchange for the release of five Taliban detainees in GITMO. Well, Bergdahl has yet to be charged with anything and the five detainees are probably preparing to get back into the fight and kill some more Americans. Rumor has it that a decision may be made soon about Sgt. Berdahl. I also heard that Rex the Wonder Dog will be arriving any day now.

Remember the hearings that looked into the IRS and its treatment of conservative organizations? Those missing and then found e-mails that belonged to Lois Lerner are still out there is cyberspace. The IRS apologized for targeting tea parties, but something more had to happen. A simple " I'm sorry" just doesn't cut it. Congress held some hearings and the matter slipped away from public view. The White House chalked the entire debacle up to disgruntled Republicans who wanted to cause trouble. No one except for some delusional Democrats believed that, but even so nothing happened and no one was held accountable. Documents were produced that showed that the feds were directing the IRS to target tea-party and conservative groups. One Senator, in particular, Carl Levin (D-Mich) made clear that he intended to attack all opposition to President Obama. Did you hear anything at all come of all of this. I think all that happened was a whole lot of talking. Nobody got to walk the plank. Too bad, in my view.

Veterans Matter

It is heart-breaking to realize that the severe problems going on at the VA have yet to be dealt with effectively. President Obama was content to blame the Bush administration. The problems most certainly began before Obama took office, but is that any excuse for allowing them to continue? If anyone out there thinks it is, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. President Obama has been in office for six unbearable years. What has he been doing besides playing golf and selling us down the river?

Benghazi Excuses

Let s not forget the terror attack in Benghazi. The lies coming forth from this administration were appalling. Hillary Clinton's infamous "what difference at this point does it make" will stay with me and others for a very long time. If she gets to run for president, someone ought to produce a video of her saying those hideous words and run it 24 hours a day. How is that investigation going? Does anyone know? I had high hopes for Trey Gowdy, but the lack of information coming out of that committee is maddening. The brave individuals who came forward to tell what they know should have been awarded the Medal of Honor. Instead they had to endure being ripped to pieces by the White House. Once more the silence is deafening. I remember former U.N. Ambassador John R. Bolton saying that Benghazi could bring down the Obama administration. He wasn't alone in feeling that way and it is a crying shame that it didn't happen.

It's Game On

The new Congress has been sworn in and we have no time to waste. This nation is suffering from a lack of leadership, conviction, talent and morals. If the Republicans don't set the course straight, our recovery may never happen. It is clear that President Obama has no interest in governing by the rule of law. He left Washington just as the new faces were coming in. Let's face it, it is easier to be a dictator than a president answerable to the people and the Constitution. It is my hope that this new Congress floods the White House with bills that address the pipe line, ObamaCare, the deficit, the EPA , the overreach of the Justice Department, the problems at the VA, the tax code, Benghazi, ISIS and immigration. There is so much left be done, but they have to start somewhere and they have to start now. Get it going and accomplished before President Obama changes us forever.

Tevya's Song

Dear God, you made so many politicians

It's no shame to be a politician

But it's no great honor either!

Dear Breakfastpoppers:

Have a great couple of weeks. I am taking some time off from politics and writing. Keep the world safe. I shall miss all of you.
