Joe Biden Will Refuse to Testify

Like everything in the impeachment proceedings of President Trump that has bad optics to the general public, depending on which side you are on, Joe Biden's statement, made twice now, about how he will refuse any Republican subpoena calling him to testify about Ukraine issues, is really bad optics.

While I generally am lukewarm on all the Democratic candidates, Biden will be the one to get their nomination in a face-off with Trump. That said, Biden remains a wishy washy candidate that does not seem to always on top of things mentally. I guess, like many who want Trump out, many will vote for him just for that reason.

Biden's connection to the Ukraine dates backs to 2014, and it really has been investigated and nothing was found done in bad faith or for personal gain. Burisma, like any company, can hire anyone they choose to to enhance their business deals. So, when Hunter Biden was hired and earning $50k a month, while it does have the bad optics (as Obama noted), Joe Biden had nothing to do with it except he was his father who was Vice President. Had this not been the case, Burisma, would have not hired him. Burisma never got any favors or preference for it, but Hunter did, So what? One can say the same thing about any of the Trump adult kids, like Ivanka, who has received many Chinese copyrights because of the connection to her father.

However, Joe Biden now is setting up another showdown. By coming out and stating he will not comply with a subpoena for him to testify in the impeachment trial in the Senate, it sets up two things:

1. The Republicans will subpoena him for sure

2. A Republican subpoena that is ignored by Biden will look bad for him because it looks like he is hiding something

If Biden did comply, the Republicans will focus solely on the Ukraine issue and his son, Hunter, who now lives in LA in a multi-million dollar home. If Hunter is subpoenaed, Hunter will refuse also no doubt, creating more suspicion in the public opinion even among Democrats, which will erode Biden's support. If enough support erodes, that leaves Warren or Sanders as the Democratic nominee, in this case, many Dems will be forced to not vote or choose Trump, again, like in 2016. That is a horrible prospect.

In either case, Biden's future may rest upon what he does if subpoenaed during the the impeachment trail.
