Let The Games End

Let Us Pray

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, January 23, 2017. Our pious friend, Manny, is at the breakfast table this morning. He is looking forward to a new dawn in our nation. President Trump is in the Oval Office and President Obama is on the golf course. That alone is a very, very good sign of great things to come. Manny has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning. He has prepared an elaborate feast for all the Poppers. There will be scrumptious waffles, homemade jams, fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs with truffles, croissants, sweet rolls and bagels. I will be offering lattes, Irish coffees and Bloody Marys. It is time to celebrate the dawn of a better America. We hope to see you soon.

He's Gone!

President Obama is on vacation and out of the White House, and we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief. His stay in Washington symbolized what the word "failure" means. He came into office to "change" our nation, but the "change" he wanted was to the detriment of America and its citizens. His vision for our country was not what we needed or wanted, and in the end his tenure will go down as a complete failure. His strange and compelling desire to close down GITMO never made sense in light of the state of the world and the threat of terrorism. Why he felt so driven to shut it down is the stuff of speculation for historians, but for me it spoke of misplaced loyalties. His insistence on referring to ISIS as ISIL was also an example of a need to protect Islam. Often that need seemed to trump his obligation to protect Americans. He spoke of the deficit and promised to cut it in half. That never happened. He promised jobs, but that never happened either. His stimulus failed and the money just flowed out of taxpayer's wallets into the pockets of his friends with failed ideas for energy. Obamacare was a monumental failure filled with false promises and hopes. His handling of foreign affairs turned our allies away and emboldened our enemies. His only "success" was in degrading our nation in the eyes of the world. Worst of all is the way the first black president in American history ratcheted up the racial divide insuring that his dear friend, Al Sharpton, would have plenty of causes to inflame for a long time to come. His plane took off for Palm Springs, and the hopes of millions of Americans soared. Maybe now, we could finally get back on track, and get this nation moving in the right direction.

The Core Issue

Now the work begins, but the job ahead for the Trump administration will be made even harder by the sore losers in Washington and the media. Sen. Schumer should stop playing games and give President Trump the cabinet he and this country deserve. Schumer's childish and irresponsible desire to slow things down and make Trump suffer speaks volumes about his character. His behavior says loud and clear that he has far more invested in preventing good things from happening than in seeing our new president succeed. The same can be said of the Democrats who are questioning Trump's cabinet choices Their questions are inane, insulting and filled with false narratives. Those in Congress who chose not to attend the inauguration made colossal fools of themselves. I hope they pay a price for their infantile and disgusting behavior. The inauguration is a celebration of the presidency, not the man. The protestors did their level best to upset the inauguration, but they failed as well. All they accomplished was the destruction of businesses in Washington, D.C. I wish the police had reached epic numbers in arrests. It would have sent a powerful message to those who get paid to hate our country.

Stop the Tug of War

Governing this nation is not a game. We have only one president and that president deserves the support of Congress. We can't afford that kind of thinking any longer. A great deal of damage has been done to our reputation and our ability to hold an important role of leadership in the world. We need to restore our nation's reputation and capability. To attack President Trump before he has had a chance to govern is to put partisan politics above accomplishment. To attack President Trump before he has set about to turn things around is to tell the nation that opposing the Republicans is more important than keeping a promise to govern and make America Great Again. We need cooperation and bi-partisan governing and we need it now. Washington must not fail us again.

Manny's Song

The moment I wake up

Before I stretch my wings

I say a little prayer for you....

Sorry BP but I have to disagree with "We have only one president and that president deserves the support of Congress"

Congress's job isn't to rubber stamp whatever he wants or even to support it. Their job is to represent their constituents and protect the country from bad legislation whether it is the president's policies or their own.

Yes, the congress should support the president when his goals and theirs intersect but when a president is going off the rails of the country's best interest I hope my elected representatives don't feel they have to support him. Were that the case we'd never have been able to stop the onslaught of Obama's left wing policies that were putting the country on the wrong path. The polls said the people believe we were on the wrong path, congress is to ignore that and support the person putting us on the wrong path? I don't think so and the same applies to Trump - though he hasn't done anything yet.

      Good morning Taze,

You make a great point, but my point wasn't blind allegiance to the president. Congress was basically out to lunch for 8 years. They represented no one. What we need now is cooperation so that things can get done. Demi are preparing to stonewall and misinterpret Trump's every move. That isn't good for the country. My other point is that he has just begun to led, so to jump all over him before he has done anything is obstructionist. That kind of behavior has nothing to do with representing their constituents. It has everything to do with politics and party loyalty and to hell with the American people. See you at the Inn.

I suspect, Pop, this is wishful thinking. This tug of war is going to continue right into mid-term elections....because we have a dysfunctional political system, and that's just the real of it. Buckle up and get ready for a rough ride. Me? I'm going to concentrate on my community where I can make a difference.

      Breakfastpop,

I am hopeful as well but the task at hand is not easy. I wrote about this before the election of Trump. Whoever is President in 2017, will be faced with many challenges (many created by the last administration...ACA, debt, ISIS) I just hope he is up to the challenge. I don't think he will get any help from the Democrats and even some Republicans...

So far I have not heard any protesters clearly identify exactly what they are protesting. I have not heard of a single thing that should cause them this much concern as of today.

When it comes to Obamacare, all they hear is "Repeal." They don't listen long enough to hear the "Replace" part of the statement.

But this is not even going away in the near future even if things get much better. Many will never be able to admit that Trump is doing a good job no matter what he does.

I really can't stand politics. Maybe it's just me, but it's always seemed more divisive than unifying. Bipartisan? I wonder what it would be like if parties didn't exist at all, just elected officials who won the support of the people. That would not necessarily be better, though.

      Dear shanmarie,

Politics as usual stinks. Caring about the country and doing the right thing is everything. Sadly, we will never get everyone to agree about what is good for the country. The answer is education and that is not what is happening in the schools or in the media. We end up with low information voters and low information candidates and nothing essential and worthwhile ever gets done. I choose to believe that this time will be different. I'll wait and see. See you at the Inn.

What a joke this protest was, those women made complete and utter fools of themselves. They are nothing but convenient dupes for the terrorists pulling the strings behind the scenes. Guess what. Trump won the white woman vote by 9 points over Hilllarity and all I saw at the protest was white women. I wonder if any of them even voted at all.

Their idea of protesting a man, because according to them he is vulgar, is to out vulgar him like Madonna and Judd did? What a bunch of nut cases!

And there was violence caused by thugs. Trying to out thug the "thug" they are supposedly protesting?

It is a mad, mad, mad, mad world we live in.

I don't think Trump will.live up to his inaugural address promise to never ever disappoint (no one can ever fulfill that promise, especially in such a high position and with the big mess he's been handed) or make America great again, at least not in four years, but I like many things he's done so far. I am hoping he will listen carefully to his advisors and have wisdom. I am praying daily for him and his administration, as well as our legislators.

I'm a little nervous, very nervous actually, about getting rid of Obama care too quickly without a well thought out alternative. I would hate for him to not have something well crafted and a far better working and cost effective plan. My heart is with bringing back businesses to America, straighten out the VA and better all around help and services for active duty military and veterans, and a solid plan to fight ISIS and other forms of terrorism.

There is so much to do but every photo and article I've seen the last few days is him at his desk with his row of pens signing away.

And I hope the arrogant celebrities will stop picking on his young son. I rarely heard any of that for Obama's kids, as it should be. It.must be a monumental thing to live as a child of the president.

And then of course we have the "I'm all about love" Madonna wishing she could blow up the Whitehouse. That ought to make her parents and children proud.

The last time I checked anyone can protest anything they want. It does not matter if you won the election or not, it does not matter if you even voted. Issues specifically the ones ordinary people do not even vote on have every right to protest. There were over a hundred different issues at this latest protest and they even included people who voted for Trump but disagree with some of his decisions. Trump promised Health Care would be better and would continue to cover all Americans. If you read the 15 provisions on what they plan on excluding you might be changing your mind. You claim the Democrats are blocking his nominations you might be curious why. I would not have to be part of any party that screams that my job is dependant on me doing my job. The job is to prevent people unqualified from a position from holding it. If they did not do their job then why be a Congressperson or Senator in the first place. You have to get past the Drama that is not happening and look at the facts. If a person is qualified they really can not stop them from being approved. Then again they stopped Obama from appointing the last Supreme Court Justice. If there is a game to be played then its time for desert. You said a Prayer to start this all off. Believing in god I could not vote for either of these two parties. Its my belief that when you vote for evil that you will suffer the consequence. Its not about Earthly agendas but Heavenly agendas that save you. My spiritual maturity is great enough to know that the free will of humanity that leads people to bitterness is the fault of people and God will not save them from their afflictions. Its not Gods fault but people who desired the things of this World at the cost of their own souls. If you thought Trump is good well good luck with that.

Of course, it is in our Constitution. Right to free assembly... My take is two parts. First, the people chosen to lead these protests are celebrities for the most part who have few clues about politics and who lives in a bubble and have no idea of how the average person lives... It is almost a feel good type of activity that they join for one day and forgotten... The second part is actually a constructive suggestion. For those who really care about issues, take a tip from the TEA playbook. They are a grass root movement that succeeded. They organized, elected local officials or ran for office, went to Washington and affected change. Over a few election cycles, won the majority and shifted the direction of the country which by the way 60 percent thought was going the wrong way...That my friend is the democratic process and how things suppose to work.

    • Dont Taze Me Bro profile image

Sanxuary, you say "Believing in god I could not vote for either of these two parties. Its my belief that when you vote for evil that you will suffer the consequence."

Then I would infer from what you said, believing in God you would not accept Paul to be an apostle since he was complicit in murdering Christians. I assume you'd say God was wrong in choosing David to become king, David who had Bathsheba's husband killed so he could have her. I could go on and on.

Believing in God, surely it can be no surprise to you that humans are evil. Their best is as filthy rags to God, yet God uses them, allows them to be in charge over you. From God's perspective an election, no matter where what or when, is a choice between the lesser of two evils and where does it say in the Bible you should not vote at all because humans are evil?

If the founders of this nation believed that because you believe in God you should not vote for a party or individual because you think they are evil this Republic would never have come into being because they knew all men are inherently evil in the eyes of God let alone in the eyes of someone who believes in God. That is why God commands that you pray for your leaders.

If everyone thought as you no one would vote ever, we might as well have a dictatorship. People who think like you will give us exactly that.

      Good morning Pop and Manny...

We are living in a very historical era...2016 will be discussed by historians for centuries...The triumph of the American hoi polli after years of progressive indoctrination by the media, by academia, and by the arts, reflects on the commonsense grounding the majority of Americans bring to the culture war that has given us political correctness, diversity as a political expedient, abortion on demand, moral relativity, social justice (at the expense of individual freedoms), the rise of the Snowflakes and the false promise of self-esteem where everyone wins, all directly in opposition to our unique American values, and all rejected, emphatically, by an aroused citizenry that simply is not going to take it anymore...

I would wish President Trump luck in the trials and tribulations that lie ahead, but he doesn't need luck...just hard work and a vision of an America that most Americans want and deserve...

Pop...your weekly Hub is testament to that American dream and in many ways is a true protest of government's corruption of America's values...The Women's March was a vulgar display of extreme feminism which would have been better served had the March taken place in Mecca....

See you at the Inn...looking forward to those Irish coffees...

      Dear maven,

Yes, 2016 should go down as a triumph for the people and a condemnation of a government, too big, too wasteful and so progressive that American values were buried under piles of garbage. I only hope that our history books will reflect this monumental moment. I say that because, thanks to Common Core, the schools have stopped teaching American history. The pressure is on English and math and history, our history, is left behind. In any case, maybe Trump can address that issue and get our kids out from under the thumb of the federal government. As for the Women's March, I agree, it was horrible. How proud they must have been to have Madonna speak for them! See you at the Inn. My treat all night.

pop 'n bugs.....I have spent much less time in hubville lately, quite intentionally. Partly because my private life, family & current projects require most of my time & attention.

This fact is hardly the sole reason for my increased absence. I have also chosen to make the wise decision to remove myself from so much of the nonsense & insanity coming from the bitter, angry mobs of pathetically uneducated, uninformed, all vitriol & no common sense individuals who have suddenly chosen to blow their rusted trumpets.

The flat notes they play can so easily cause nausea & migraines when I'm otherwise not laughing in their ignorant faces. I'm cruising on the high road, watching & hearing the brash stupidity, until the lot of these blow-hards finally exhale their last bit of hot air.

Sorry pop & crew, I'm not one to expend my precious time, energy & wisdom into empty-headed, seriously twisted goof-offs. Frankly, I can't be bothered anymore. Furthermore, I refuse to get into arguments or disagreements with people I am fond of. I'm perfectly content to silently tolerate our differences.

IMO, for all intent & purpose, a new season for our country is underway. I feel a duty to listen, watch, hope & support. There is not a single reason to attack unless it appears harm or doom is imminent.

I guess I can call this my sermon for this morning. Thanks pop....& Peace, Paula

Pop...As usual, your analysis is spot on...The deliberate exclusion of American History in public school curriculum is part and parcel of the Progressive agenda for a globalized, homogeneous, one world government...Patriotism is to be shunned, even reviled as overt nationalism...The politically correct world of Progressives is all about control...Control of the masses (hate that characterization of individual human beings) because they know what is best for us poor, intellectually challenged, overly patriotic Americans...The Individual is anathema to their thought processes...Groupthink. communal integration, relative morality, and government-as-nanny are the motivating factors that drive Progressives...They seem to have forgotten this quote from Ayn Rand: "The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities."...
