Let's Raise Taxes on Big Business!
Let's raise taxes on big business!
The Democrats are known for wanting to raise taxes on businesses. The poor hop on board thinking "Right on! Tax businesses and the wealthy!".
What's the problem with taxing business? Let's look at it a little more closely. If it costs a business $1.00 to make something plus $1.00 to pay an employee plus $.50 in taxes then that means it will have to sell this item for $2.50 to break even. Since companies are not in business to break even or lose money, this company would probably sell this item for $3.00.
Now if the government comes along and wants to raise taxes, here is what would happen. Instead of paying $.50 in taxes, this business now has to pay $1.00. What do you think this business will do? If it is a good business, they will raise their price, probably to around $3.50. Who pays this? The consumer. Who is the consumer? It's mostly the middle class and the poor.
In reality when government raises taxes on a business, that is really raising taxes on the consumer. Every time a politician suggests taxing businesses, the citizens should keep in mind that they are really the ones getting taxed.
