Message to Chinese President Hu Jintao: RELEASE LIU XIAOBO NOW !!!
From the same country that brought you the execution of Food and Drug Administration director Zheng Xiaoyu, China continues to detain Nobel peace laureate Liu Xiaobo in prison. This Chinese professor was sentenced to 11 years on Christmas Day in 2009
on subversion charges after co-authoring Charter 08, a reform petition that questions the policies of communist-ruled China. As Chinese President Hu Jintao continues to peddle the latest version of Chinese consumer goods and inflationary currency around the world, he first needs to pick the log out of his own eye, if Chinese rule is to gain sincere respect on the world stage.
RELEASE Liu Xiaobo NOW !!!
Love freedom? Thank a dissident!
Liu Xiaobo was awarded an absentee Nobel prize in the Norwegian capital Oslo in December. Since Xiaobo, now a rising folk hero in Beijing was not allowed to leave to receive his Nobel Peace prize in person, Chinese President Hu Jintao has lost face with academics and human rights activists around the world despite recent gains in quality of life for some of it's citizenry. Rumors of Chinese censorship of the issue abound on internet chatrooms. Liu Xiaobo's family has also not been allowed visitation rights, even during China's biggest holidays. Hu Jintao stated in his recent visit to the U.S. that, "China needs to make progress on human rights at its own pace..."
At what pace is it acceptable to imprison nonviolent authors of reform President Hu Jintao? How is the Western world supposed to believe in the strength of Chinese currency and business practice when it oppresses free thought within it's own institutions?
Liu Xiaobo's appeals to the world:
"I want to make an appeal to writers from around the world, especially to writers from free countries, as well as to governments and NGOs to continue to pay attention to Chinese writers and to their conditions of writing and thus help them to attain their freedom of writing...in my opinion, the degree of liberty in China is related to the whole world and has directly corresponded to the progress of world civilization."
Watch now, before the powers that be censor this video
Spread the word amongst colleagues that the imprisonment of free thinkers like Liu Xiaobo is an infringement on the rights of all humans everywhere
Freedom, liberty and the spiritual equity of the world are at stake. Spread the word amongst colleagues that the imprisonment of free thinkers like Liu Xiaobo is an infringement on the rights of all humans everywhere, and against writers specifically. The dynamic exchange of ideas can try to be halted or thwarted or imprisoned, but freedom will prevail either by fury or fire.
