Every Once In Awhile

For those of you who follow my Hubs, you know I mainly write about 3 subjects- Politics, Religion, and Bi-Polar Disorder. And for those of you who follow me, you also know that as far as politics go, I am a very opinionated, conservative Independent. You also know that if there isn't an Independent running in a race, then there is almost a 100% chance that I'm voting for the Republican candidate.

However, every once in a blue, blue moon, a Democrat comes along and makes you stop, stare and listen. And when they are as good as Michael Flaherty you even campaign for them and then vote for them.

Why I Have To Give In For This Democrat

I live in South Boston and see all the changes that need to be made in Boston and unfortunately there are many. Michael Flaherty also lives in South Boston and sees the same things I do. When I found out that Michael Flaherty was running for Mayor back in '09, I was beyond thrilled. The main reason being, that I believed it was time for new blood in the Mayor's seat. I went down to his head quarters to volunteer. I did this for two reasons: One, like I said, I believed we needed a new Mayor and two, having Bi-polar disorder, I needed to keep busy.

I was surrounded by democrats, yet not afraid to be the lone Tea Partier while debating with my new family for the 7 months I volunteered. I know a few of my new family members tried to win me over to the "Democratic" side, but I wasn't having it. What I was having, was the chance to get to know what Michael Flaherty was really about.

The Michael Flaherty I Know

While volunteering for the Flaherty Committee back in '09, I paid very close attention to how his campaign was running inside his head quarters, but more than that, I paid attention to everything Michael Flaherty had to say on any given issue. I found that more and more, I was agreeing with almost everything he was saying. Like I said, he sees what I see. He knows we need change in our Education System. He knows we need change in the crime rate. He knows we need change in the economy. The only difference between him and I, is that if he's elected back into the City Council, he'll have some say in how we change things. Sure, I have ideas about how we should change things, as I'm sure many of you do, but who's going to listen? I'll tell you who...Michael Flaherty. To Michael Flaherty, not only was I helping on his campaign, but I was still a constituent. Any issues I had (and I had many), he listened. And then after listening he really looked into them and when he could do anything to help, he did just that. He wants to do that for anyone and everyone. He wants to do that for every single person in all of Boston.

The Michael Flaherty You Can Know

Over the past couple of years and after the campaigning I did for Michael Flaherty while he was running for Mayor, I can tell you that Michael Flaherty is a man who wants what we all want. He is a man of integrity who doesn't hide behind closed doors or assistants. He wants accountability and transparency within our government. And if elected he will fight for it within the City Council's office as well. He is a man with family values and only wants what is best for EVERY community in the whole city of Boston. He is out there meeting with his constituents. He wants to know what ALL of the people of Boston want. He doesn't want to speak for a small group of the city. He wants to be able to speak for every single community within Boston. He wants to take what the people want back to the offices of the City Council and do what he does best...Work for the people. Michael Flaherty is a man not only of great character, but he also has the experience behind him, having been on the City Council in the past, before having to give up his seat to take on our current Mayor in the '09 Mayoral Election.

If You Don't Believe Me, You Can Ask Him Yourself

I told you how I feel about Michael Flaherty. It may have seemed long winded, but that's only because I can't say enough good things about him. However, if you don't believe me, you can honestly ask him yourself. Yes, Michael is a busy man. He's out meeting his constituents. He's out in the communities asking the people what they want. However, Michael returns every phone call, he also makes house calls. You can call and set up an appointment to meet with him and he will come to you. You can call him with any questions or concerns you have with a guarantee that he will not only hear you, but he will be listening to your every word. See for yourself at Michaelflaherty.com

One Last Thing

I'm asking all my friends, Democrat, Independent and Republican to put aside their party ties and truly take a good look at Michael Flaherty. He's worth voting for if you really want to see some desperately needed changes in the City of Boston. Please VOTE Michael Flaherty for Boston City Council At-Large.
