My Criticism of the Trump Administration

Introduction

It has only been two and a half years into Trump’s administration. During that time, he has accomplished much. However, there are a few big ones he failed to act on or tried and failed. It does not matter, only results matter. Here are my lists.

- April 2019

The Lists...

  • Repeal and replace of ACA.
  • Infrastructure repairs of our bridges and highways and airports.
  • Reducing the deficit and national debt.
  • Building the wall on our southern borders.
  • Term limits for Congressional members.

Details

His attempt to repeal the ACA came down to one vote in the Senate. John McCain was the deciding vote. After years of campaigning of repeal and replace of the ACA, he changed his mind at the last moment when it counted. So dishonest and disappointing of him and use this issue to settle a personal vendetta against Trump.

One of Trump’s promise for a bipartisan bill is to finally address the crumbling infrastructure. Our roads, and bridges has been ignored for too long. This should be an easy bill to pass. Both sides of the aisle can benefit and support. I just don’t understand why this was not a top priority.

Our budget is in a perpetual overload. We have not had a balanced budget for many decades. Despite of record revenue, our spending just kept rising and we spend more than we take in year after year. This was another promise that was not met.

The wall was a signature issue of Trump. It was one of the reason he was elected to fix our immigration crisis. Unfortunately, the mid term election turned out badly and the GOP lost the majority in the House. This is where the funding of the wall would have come from. It was the fault of Speaker Paul Ryan, for delaying the appropriation bill for the wall until after the mid term election.

The term limit restriction on Congress was a long shot. It is hard to get Congress to restrict itself. They are all power hungry and would not give up their control without a fight. Part of draining the swamp is getting rid of some members of Congress who has been there forever and done very little.

Summary

For those who think that I am a Trump minion, I will defend him when he is attacked unfairly but I will also criticize him when he has drifted off course. That is being an independent free thinker.
