My Criticism of the Trump Administration

Updated on April 28, 2019

Jack is currently a volunteer at the Westchester County Archives. Before retiring, he worked at IBM for over 28 years.

Introduction

It has only been two and a half years into Trump’s administration. During that time, he has accomplished much. However, there are a few big ones he failed to act on or tried and failed. It does not matter, only results matter. Here are my lists.

- April 2019

The Lists...

  • Repeal and replace of ACA.
  • Infrastructure repairs of our bridges and highways and airports.
  • Reducing the deficit and national debt.
  • Building the wall on our southern borders.
  • Term limits for Congressional members.

Details

His attempt to repeal the ACA came down to one vote in the Senate. John McCain was the deciding vote. After years of campaigning of repeal and replace of the ACA, he changed his mind at the last moment when it counted. So dishonest and disappointing of him and use this issue to settle a personal vendetta against Trump.

One of Trump’s promise for a bipartisan bill is to finally address the crumbling infrastructure. Our roads, and bridges has been ignored for too long. This should be an easy bill to pass. Both sides of the aisle can benefit and support. I just don’t understand why this was not a top priority.

Our budget is in a perpetual overload. We have not had a balanced budget for many decades. Despite of record revenue, our spending just kept rising and we spend more than we take in year after year. This was another promise that was not met.

The wall was a signature issue of Trump. It was one of the reason he was elected to fix our immigration crisis. Unfortunately, the mid term election turned out badly and the GOP lost the majority in the House. This is where the funding of the wall would have come from. It was the fault of Speaker Paul Ryan, for delaying the appropriation bill for the wall until after the mid term election.

The term limit restriction on Congress was a long shot. It is hard to get Congress to restrict itself. They are all power hungry and would not give up their control without a fight. Part of draining the swamp is getting rid of some members of Congress who has been there forever and done very little.

Summary

For those who think that I am a Trump minion, I will defend him when he is attacked unfairly but I will also criticize him when he has drifted off course. That is being an independent free thinker.

Good point about McCain. That was an election where we couldn't win with either pick.

We need to get rid of the knee jerk loyal party voters, and over time show the party they don't control our Republic. The first step is to not reelect any politician that doesn't do what they promised in their campaign. No more nesting of dead politicians walking.

Remember McCain in 2012 election cycle...he claims he will name names after the election if he was elected...

Since he was not, he kept quiet. What a wimp.

He claims to be a maverick.

We need names of people behind the scenes pulling the strings.

These people are insidious. They support candidates from both parties so they win either way. They are the true enemies of democracy and freedom.

We know a lot of names, but they need to be investigated and Muellerized and root out more of them. I am talking about those in the Executive Branch.then and now.

Definitely Trump needs to be RINO free.

Name names? We pretty well know who they are. Shat he needs to do is have them indicted, fired or replaced.

I guess draining the swamp is not as easy as we thought. Trump is President not a dictator. If he would act like one, imagine the push back from the media...

That being said, I do think he can name names. He can tell us who in the GOP is fighting against his agenda. We need to vote these RINO out of office.

I would have thought we would have had the answer after the 2018 election, but it only added more questions!

Now that Brad is a good criticism of the Trump administration!

Why hasn’t he drained the swamp like he promised!

I would totally agree with you but the swamp hasn't been touched. Some of the creatures have crawled out but that they have been drained out. The difference is they are still free and even not being investigated much less indicted for their swamp acts.

Until the republicans have investigations on the swamp to the level and intensity that the democrats did against president Trump then the democrats will continue to adversely influence our elections.

The republicans need to shutdown the Mueller investigation and not let the fabricated cloud continue. And one way to do that is to investigate Comey, Mueller, and Rosenstein and maybe even Sessions.

      imo.

      Thanks

Jack, your criticisms aren’t of Trump, the Trump administration. Trump isn’t a dictator, he can’t just make these things happen. He needs his party and Congress to make it happen and that is where your criticism should be placed. He’s not responsible for a flake like McCain flip flopping on his own stated desire to repeal ACA! He has done nothing to keep congress from reducing the deficit, the debt, building the wall etc.

Your criticisms are misplaced but that is no surprise when you have a media that fabricates lies and ignores the truth like never reporting on this

Brad, you got quite a long posting to make your case. I agree with you for the most part. However, Trump needs to stay in the GOP party in order to drain the swamp from the inside. Little by little, the RINO are being exposed and thrown out or leave on their own accord. We need a real conservative party to fight off the socialist democrats. The choice for 2020 could not be clearer.

Here are some of the reasons you didn't mention.

"The point is that the republicans lost the opportunity to make a difference before 2018, and they couldn't make a difference now if they tried. They don't appear to be trying at all.

Ryan and McCain left on their own, so that doesn't count for republicans doing it.

Do you really want people like Mitt Romney to be a leader in the republican party?

Exactly what is the republican political platform, and back track it to 2017 to today to see if there is any change or continuity?

That is why, if I were president Trump, I would run as an independent. It would be a real vote of confidence. It would separate those that want Trump from those that work against Trump.

For Trump it would be a no lose venture. If he wins then the vote is confident, and if he loses he would have taken the country off of the resist Trump and maybe back on to MAGA even without Trump, doubful?

The democrats would have to deal with the republican, and Trump. The republican would have to deal with the democrats and Trump. Neither the republicans nor the democrats have done anything for the country and the people. Trump is the only one that can run on performance and putting the country and its people first.

If a republican or a democrat could beat Trump running as an independent, then the people don't deserve MAGA. Trump is the only one that even cares about MAGA.

The democrat voters do what they always do follow the party, but the republican voters are a disappointment. Even more disappointing are the Trump voters that would vote for someone else.

As for the topic of this article, the republicans with the Mueller report in and available should be now moving swiftly to investigate what Mueller didn't investigate. Starting with Mueller and Comey over their conspiracy to get a special counsel. And then include Rosenstein who fired Comey and then appoints Mueller. If this had happened to the democrats and Hillary you can imagine their rage. I expect the republicans and Trump to do what the democrats would have done.

The investigation should start leading up to when the FBI made Trump a target of any investigation. That is my opinion was the Australian and Papadopoulus meeting. And considering that nothing become of that meeting, Papadopoulus got 14 days for lying. Is that really the seed for a 3 year investigation and unlimited spying on Trump? NO!

Add in the Carter Page as that brought in the Russians, when the DNC alleged that the Russians hacked their emails. And that would bring in the US intel agencies to be investigated as to why they didn't verify the allegation by actually getting on the DNC email servers and making their own forensic analysis. And how do 17 independent US intel agencies stand behind that allegation and the unverified Steele report. 17 agencies and not even one investigation into the report, that is incompetence or a conspiracy, In either case, it warrants a deep investigation.

That is just the tip of what I think should be done Now!

Finally, imo, these hoax investigations have done a better and more strategic influence on the 2018 election for the democrats. Now, with the Mueller report exploding as a gas cloud, it now is influencing the 2020 election.

This influence was intentional by the democrats from even before Trump won the election, and it continued with the Kavanaugh hearing as one example, and then the Mueller report that could have and should have been ended in the summer of 2018 not only went to the 2018 election. It went five months past it, and now is influencing the 2020 election.

This is a clear and present danger to the integrity of US elections. No foreign power could have accomplished the adverse influence achieved by the democrats."

Thank you for an honest assessment. Immigration reform is critical to our future as a nation, yet the Dems block Trump every chance they get. It's a sad state of affairs.

Excellent article. The reason why America's budget is in excessive deficit is that monies go to inane social programs & welfare. The overwhelming majority of welfare recipients can work. They are using welfare & social programs to game the system which costs taxpayers greatly. Also if Trump becomes more assertive in his immigration policies, the deficit would be greatly reduced as these illegals are the bottom of the bin & they also come to this country to use resources. Yes, Trump needs to immediately repeal ACA period. We don't need universal healthcare in America, let the individual be responsible for his/her own healthcare.

Term limits require an Amendment to the Constitution.

The term limit should be put to a vote by "we the people". Not left up to congress.
