Seriously This Again

I'm utterly amazed at the sheer amount of fear-mongering that's going on on-behalf of some Republicans and the NRA, in the aftermath of the 23 common sense proposals that President Obama used executive orders to address the problem of gun violence. With all of the noise the NRA & some Republicans are making makes it seem like President Obama is secretly trying to totally take away everybody's gun or their right to own a firearm.

I've not heard anything even remotely close to repealing the 2nd Amendment come from the White House or President Obama directly. So for all of the grandstanding that the NRA or certain Republicans are doing to perpetrate or advance that lie, is utterly ridiculous. The generally unknown fact about the AR-15 a.k.a. Bush-Master AR-15, is that it's a scaled down and modified version of the fully automatic M-16 used commonly by the US Military. So I fail to see the need for such a weapon to be in the hands of the general public for the purpose of hunting or personal protection.

In the hands of a militarily trained person with say several 30 round clips (magazine) it would definitely caused far more fatalities than Virginia Tech, Aurora Movie Theatre, and Sandy Hook combined, possibly in the neighborhood of the Oslo, Norway mass murderer and he also used some explosives as well. My point being what's wrong with more stringent background checks for anyone trying to buy a gun of any caliber. Or limiting the number of rounds in a clip (magazine) to 10 per.

As for someone like myself who's trained to use firearms all I really need is 3 three shots, first is a warning, second non lethal injury and third is the kill shot center mass or head shot. Of course if I'm ever in a gunfight more is better, but guns make a whole lot of noise and I'm counting on someone to call the local law enforcement officers (L.E.O.). Plus I'd have to add at least three additional rounds per additional intruders, perpetrator or suspect to account for whether they're stationary or moving towards me. If the situation is an all out bum-rush I'm going strictly lethal force and steps 1 & 2 are out the window.

But those are only hypothetical scenarios, yet not totally beyond the realm of possibility. As for those individuals with less than perfect mental acuity that should be address on a case by case basis. Private owners should also be required to have background done for any perspective buyer(s) to a private sale. Without question dealers at gun shows should require mandatory comprehensive background checks the same as their retail counterparts. And yes, the assault weapons ban should be re-instated immediately.

Although the details are sketchy at the moment another multiple homicide happened again possibly involving an AR-15 in New Mexico. The local Police have a suspect in custody for questioning but no official charges have been filed yet. Also the suspect is believed to be a teenager, possibly a family member of the victims. But I'll have to check into that story further, and update this at a later date. Oops I almost forgot, banning indefinitely the sale of armor piercing bullets to the general public is or at the very least should be a no-brainer.

But we'll have to wait and see about that. Unlike that stupid PSA the NRA had put out about the President's kids getting armed protection from the US Secret Service in school, schools should be a guns free zone. As if the metal detectors aren't intrusive enough, back in the day we never would have imagined it would come to this type of reality. Yet we have to deal with it anyways, what ever happened to the slogan from the 1960's. "Make Love not War". It's just a thought.
