Palestine Will Declare Statehood.

Updated on June 12, 2020
Israeli Prime Minister: Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israeli Prime Minister: Benjamin Netanyahu.

Benjamin Netanyahu has been threatening to annex the Jordan Valley (part of the West Bank) for a while now. Ever since, Netanyahu went into government with his rival, Benny Ganz, this policy, appears to have been at the front of Netanyahu's mind.

Trump has not helped, being heavily pro-Israel, making the capital (as far as the USA was concerned, Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, whereas, most of the rest of the world, still, recognises, Tel-Aviv).

Also, Trump's so-called 'deal of the century' was rejected outright by the Palestinians. Why....because the deal fell short of what the Oslo Agreements said on Palestinian statehood.

Offering the Palestinians just 70% of the land and being heavily pro-Israeli, this is why the Palestinian Authority rejected the deal. The Trump deal imagined, eventually, a Palestinian state would be created, but, not in the way, the Palestinians wanted.

Germany in a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has urged him, not to go ahead with the annexation plan. The question has to be asked, with the attention of the world diverted by COVID-19, race riots, and the US elections, Netanyahu, might use these things, as cover, to enact his plan. It seems the Palestinian plight has been forgotten by the world, with Zionists crying anti-Semitism, whenever criticism of Israel, is mentioned. Yes, real anti-Semitics, will use the Palestinian plight, as ammunition against Israel and Jews. However, those not against Israel or Jews, are criticising Israel, for its human rights abuses of Palestinians and others, under the far-right rule of Netanyahu. Many liberal and left-wing Jews, even some on the right, do not support the Netanyahu plan, and also, with Netanyahu, facing corruption charges, that is another reason, the current Israeli Prime Minister, is not liked, by some.

The Israeli annexation of the Jordan Valley would take in the whole population of Jewish settlements in the West Bank. The settlements are regarded by the UN and other nations, as illegal, being on captured Palestinian land. The Israeli population of the West Bank, is approximately, 700,000. The settlements range from small outposts to a major city.

As far as Palestinian Prime Minister is concerned, Mr Mohammed Shayyeh, if Israel goes ahead with the annexation plan, Palestine will declare its independence. The independence announcement will be based on the 1967 border, separating Israel from Palestine.

Mr Shayyeh has stated that if Netanyahu goes ahead with his plan, Palestine will have no option, but declare it's official independence. The Oslo plan is dead, as far as Mr Shayyeh is concerned. Palestine has broken off all security arrangements with Israel and declared the Oslo Peace Accord, nullified.

Maybe, Israel and Palestine have reached an impasse, what happens next, in this part of the world, is unpredictable.
