OH NO...SOCIALISTS, COMMUNISTS, MARXISTS, and HEAVEN FORBID...LIBERALS

Socialist, Marxist, communist, fascist, Nazi, Antichrist, gay, lesbian, transgendered, contraception, abortion, equal health care, teachers, and education are villains, unions are evil, too many regulations, tax cuts for the rich and drill baby drill. These are the words and phrases we hear almost daily in the current climate of politics, religion and those arguing for social issues. My brain is sputtering, sizzling like a pressure cooker, as smoke blows out of my ears. I’m on information overload and my internal computer is ready to crash. In an effort to remain somewhat sane, I have found it necessary to finally say “enough” as I step back and observe less in this crazed atmosphere of nastiness, lies, and half-truths. Both my brain and blood pressure need a break.

GLOBAL WARMING, CLIMATE CHANGE, AND HYDRAULIC FRACTURING

There is global warming. Oh no, it isn't global warming the world is experiencing. Instead, we are going through climate change. Nope, there isn't climate change at all because that is nothing more than faulty science. Hydraulic fracturing doesn't pollute water or lands and it certainly doesn't cause earthquakes. For you see, all one need do is ask the geoscientific employees of the oil and gas companies because they are truly practicing real science. We all know that scientists, just like those employed in government accounting offices as statisticians, have never massaged facts and figures to fit the way they want them to appear. After all, these well-intentioned people are professionals and most assuredly do not want to doubt or question the data presented to us.

PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE

President Obama is a Kenyan and wasn't born in Hawaii. You might ask, “Oh come on. Be real! Who could honestly make such an inane claim?” Well, the answer is quite simple. If you want the truth, it isn’t too far from your remote control. There are two people who avoid cameras and notoriety and really prefer anonymity, but their patriotic duty draws them into the issue of presidential citizenship like the untalented Kardashians are drawn into reality TV. So, who are these patriots that need to bring Obama’s citizenship into question? The two accusers are none other than “Mr. Low Profile,” Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his accomplice “Mr. Keep Me Out of the Spotlight,” Donald Trump. Seriously…should we believe either of these guys? Why didn't anyone question John McCain's citizenship when he ran for president? Mr. McCain was born in 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone and the last time I checked that wasn't part of the United States.

CONTRACEPTION, PEDOPHILES, AND MARRIAGE

Double standards are rampant in our society. Insurance coverage for female contraception is frowned upon, although covering men for male enhancement and sexual dysfunction drugs is totally acceptable. Churches are appalled at the mere thought of abortions and yet pedophile priests were simply shuffled around from one diocese to another, spreading sexual abuse of children like an out of control virus. The divorce rate for heterosexual couples within the United States is estimated between 40% - 50% but heaven forbid if gay and lesbian lovers want to get married because we all know only true love exists in the hearts of heterosexual couples. I won’t even touch upon the thought of gays or lesbians adopting children. Who really knows what goes on in those situations? Nuns are being chastised as they stand up for women’s health issues and promoting equal health care. My God, don’t these nuns realize how important it is to be suing the Obama Administration over the Affordable Care Act? Have these Sisters forgotten their sense of loyalty to the male-dominated Church?

POLICE, FIRE, UNEMPLOYED AND STAND YOUR GROUND

People receiving unemployment benefits aren't looking hard enough for a job. Those folks on Welfare are lazy. Poor children who want to help themselves should be working as janitors in schools. Stand Your Ground laws promote personal safety and if a few innocent people are gunned down and murdered…well, we just chalk that up to collateral damage. Members of the police and fire departments, along with teachers, are all living high on the hog. I don’t know how they look into the mirror each day. They are literally on the front lines of society and teachers have, by and large, gone on and received their Master’s degrees and now they want a living wage. Oh, come on now. Why can’t they face the music like everyone else?

GREED, INEQUALITY, AND MANIPULATION

In reality, I could turn this article into several hundred pages of a book. Alas, I will not live long enough to understand why people back unfairness, inequality, greed, pollution, manipulation, and zealots with astronomical amounts of cash to throw into the political arenas. I think I am a reasonable man and the agendas in front of me don’t seem to make sense.

BREATHE AND WALK BACK

So now that my head is about to blow off of my shoulders, I am going to make a conscious decision to step back a tad from all of this political, social and religious rhetoric. Of course, I also understand this may last only a couple of days, maybe a day, or worse, just a few hours. Time will tell and then most likely, so will I. Whew, I think I've covered enough territory for now.

P.S. Several months have passed since I wrote this post and truth be told, I can't remain quiet. I will continue to speak out against injustice and refuse to roll over and become complacent.
