Selling Out The Republic: Tea Party Disillusionment
The Voice of Strife & Division
The Start of a Real Reality Check for the GOP
Unless you've been living under a rock or in the Dark Ages, there's more than ample evidence to prove that the Tea Party/GOP needs a reality check. They've been a big part of the problem of why the federal, state and certain local government is totally dysfunctional in certain situations under the current administration. In the words of a couple of very funny comedians, Ron White said on his HBO Stand-up comedy show aptly titled, "You Can't Fix Stupid".
When you've got the likes of Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Rick Perry and Mitt Romney dropping zingers, one-liners that are utterly dim-witted and without any truthful facts to back them up. Truth be told the modern Tea Party movement is more than likely to go the way of American Whig Party of the early 1800's, because their party ideology tends to lean more towards an aristocracy or corporations rather than the everyday commoners. A refresher course in American History would show them that the Republican Party of the days of Abraham Lincoln's time favored a centralized federal government of the people, by the people and for the people.
A tell-tale sign that points directly to the evidence that the modern Tea Party is taking the country backwards is the viral attack on women's reproductive rights and portraying Planned Parenthood as strictly an abortion provider. If the Tea / GOP has there way women would no longer be in the boardrooms of fortune 500 companies, but rather more docile, subservient and back in the kitchen being pregnant and barefooted as if back in the 1950's. Women of all ethnicity's must also remember that at one point in history they too had no voting rights or means of public discourse. The men had the only means to vote on social, economic and political issues and thank GOD for the progress that's been made since the mid 1800's.
With the Supreme Courts Decision to strike down parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to make it easier for certain states to rig or gerrymander the votes in their favor because they can't win or compete on their own merits based on their far right wing ideology. It may have been the prevailing thougths in early 1940's but there's a reason we've evolved to today's mindset, because it was the right thing to do under the protections of the US Constitution.
At The Heart of the Tea Party
As I will illustrate in this article, the GOP/Tea Party wing of the Republican Party doesn't have anything that resembles an agenda to better the lives of the average Americans that they're supposed to represent. The inherent nobility of the elected office for which that they currently occupy gets thrown by the wayside in the interest of their own self preservation, ego and greed.
Falling prey to the aphrodisiacal powers of Power and Influence of their office is commonplace. when personal integrity is sacrificed, to go against what they know is actually in the best interest of the constituents whom they were elected to represent. The tendency to be spiteful is second nature to Tea Party Republicans, the will of the people is regularly ignored to be perceived as against all things President Obama tries to do for the good of the country as a whole! Case in point, this whole Government SHUTDOWN!
There are still some reasonable members within the GOP, who recognize that this Gov't shutdown isn't actually in their own best interest of self preservation. The Tea Party member within the GOP are so hell bent on curtailing the size of Gov't that they couldn't see the forest for the trees!
John Boehner is in an unattainable position because, he's caught be a rock and a few hard cases (i.e. far right wing of the Tea Party). He could end this Gov't shutdown inside of 15 minutes by letting a clean (C.R. funding the Government and raising the debt ceiling for six months to a year) while negotiating a real budget for the next 5 to 10 years. But that would be a sign of weakness to the wacko birds of the Tea Party and make him/his Speaker of the House job a target. The sad part is his speakership is already up for grabs, he's just too entrenched in political gamesmenship to notice the reality that's right in front of his face.
