Shootings at the Pentagon

Updated on March 18, 2010

Shooting at Pentagon

Seems to me like it hasn't been that long ago when there was a similar shooting at the Pentagon. Now a man by the name of John Patrick Bedell 36 of of Hollister, California is in the center of this most horrific act that injured two Pentagon Policeman. What was the motive of this man? No one really knows for sure. I read that he had some issue with the way the 911 attacks were handled and that it may be a motive for the shootings but who knows.

Seems like everything was well and good in the Defense Department headquarters, when all of a sudden this guy started shooting at the officers at point blank range and they had no idea that he was going to do it. They said he walked up to them very cool with no emotion on his face.

The police officers returned fire with semiauthomatic weapons and basically brought down this guy because he was pronounced dead at about midnight. They identified him and found that so far there has been no connection to any terrorism or terrorist attacks, but they had not ruled that out yet because he seems to have a small connection to the 911 attacks, and to me this is when the whole thing gets weird.

Apparently this Bedell guy was going to see that justice would be served for a Marine Col. named James Sabow, who was found dead in the back yard of his home back in 1991. Aparently the case has been ruled a suicide but there have been rumors that there was a cover-up somehow. That this Sabow guy was going to come out with some information about 911 before it even happened and he was found dead. So maybe then it was too much for Bedell to deal with and that is why he killed the policman to try to somehow make a point. I don't know but it has only been 4 months since the killings here in Texas happened, not too far where I live, where I have friends and family living as well and it just gets scarier and scarier that this is happening more and more.

It seems like people are loosing their minds lately about something or other and it really makes one wonder what is behind all this hatred. Okay, so some people do not like Barrack Obama but come on now the man cannot be blamed for everything. I have seen a couple of forums in the last few hours where people say, well maybe they are just giving the president a warning. A warning, for what? I don't understand it and maybe someone wiser than I can shed some light on it but for me it seems like I am losing faith in humanity with every day that ends. I don't know what brings a person to want to kill innocent people. Maybe they do have reason or an agenda but certainly there are better ways to be heard than with gunfire. There is no excuse to kill or maim innocent people no matter what the issue is. Enough is Enough already.

There are many fabricated bulletins broadcast daily, creating fear mongering by the Republican obstructionists who seek to not allow Obama any chance to succeed in any way. Some of these bulletins unfortunately are so skewed, and in the right person can rile them to turn a buletimn into a bullet. I will personally write newspapers and campaign as a poet to see that those who have spread lies will eventually lie spread out for all to identify and villify in the same papers as hypocrites, traitors to our country, and not ever worth of election to any office, or as a host to any broadcast in this nation.

we are besieged with sore losers, racists, and motormouths such as Rush Limbaugh who was quoted several weeks ago as saying:

"I can't believe how stupid so many Americans are, who all buy into this load of crap I'm selling daily."

If and when and highly unlikely ever... if the republicans regain the office they rightfully lost due to massive incompetence, I can promise the backlash against them will make what they are doing to Obama seem like a kindergarten argument. Let the president do his job, like we let bush do his, we survived the nightmare of bush, nothing Obama can do will ever match the insanity of bush/cheney. Most true Americans are taking

note of the tarring and feathering of their president, and

in the end, will be marking ballots that are not stained by the stench of

    obstructionists names.~~~Superb Hub~~~MFB III

Hello Mickey Dee thanks for reading. I agree with you about not wanting to hear about liberal agendas and the trying to stop Obamas progress, not that they will agree to any of his progress, they only see the problems that he inherited and are blaming it on him. Im with you on this one. Thanks again.

There is so much hate!. I don't need to hear about a "liberal agenda". Right now the "agenda" is to throw as much hell to stopping all or any progress made by Obama and company. Lies are thrown around like confetti. Hate is the name of the game. I vote for neither of these "parties" but I can say with no doubt whatsoever- republicans will do nothing, zero, zilch to help the common man. These "parties" take us up a dead-end road to the "children of the corn" in every election. How stupid are the American people? Just wait for the next "so-called" election to find out. America is the most charming dictatorship in the world. It seems that ALL political idiots refuse to acknowledge the Golden Rule. It should be applied in all areas of our lives. Until it is applied, this will continue to resemble hell. I am non-violent even though I've been to Nam. Nobody is above being provoked. 911 is either an inside job and or it is a cover-up. More money and time was spent on "Whitewater" than the investigation into 911. There were dozens of videos of the Pentagon as a "flying object" flew into it it and we can see only four that show nothing. Until the "Injustice System" of the United States of the Apathetic is overhauled- there is no credibility. People are torn up about 911 as they should be- BUT THE INJUSTICE SYSTEM is responsible for more continuous pain than 911 ever has. Of of course there is potential for all possibilities.

its getting out of control everywhere around the globe and everyone lives in fear but end of all this will surely come as all things have to end. when things go too high pitched the end is imminent and that is how foresee this scenario too. common people are fed up with this high security everywhere but then there is no other way as well. human lives have become like toys, you can break it the moment you dont like it!!

How is it possible for someone to want to hurt a complete stranger??? Trying to kill someone who has done nothing to you. Even people who hurt you it is difficult to want to hurt, let alone try to kill ... Incomprehensible ..

@breakfastpop thanks for reading and yes these days are getting more and more frightening and it makes people like me lose faith in humankind, especially when people seem more desensitized to these kind of things now. Some people not only havent heard about this in the news but if they do know they don't care. Appreciate the comments.

@coolmon appreciate you reading my hub that was written just at the spur of the moment after reading some reports of this shooting, maybe people are snapping as you put it, but many people are snapping and it shouldn't be used as an excuse to harm innocent people. People need to find other ways to vent their anger. Thanks for your feedback, always good to see you.

@Ralph thanks for reading, I really don't know much to say about your comments except that I am for the bearing of arms and always have and always will be because once you take that away from people they are no longer to defend themselves against criminals who are always going to be able to get guns.

@Calber ah you are always one of my favorites because you always write from the heart. I totally agree with what you said and more. I'm glad that you carry a gun and defend yourself from punks who have no regard for anyone but themselves. There are too many spoiled, rotten people who have no morals or ethics and by taking guns away from the law abiding citizens makes us sitting ducks and I will be damned if I will be one of those. I appreciate that you are not either. Im right there with you.

@whibeywriter thanks for reading, I always respect your opinion, and you are right our society has been going down in a handbasket more and more especially during the Clinton administation where the liberalism and politically correctness was born (didn't the Clinton's coin that phrase?)anyway I hear you about Obama but at least he is trying to help the people who are out of jobs by extending their unemployment and trying to get people to go back to school. I certainly do not agree with everything that he does but I don't agree with everything that any President does but as much as he has inherited coming into the White House I don't think that he deserves people turning on him as well, especially since he has not been in that long and we havent seen the best of what he can do yet. I don't however by any means think that he thinks that he is greater than God either, I think that he is doing the best he can. I do however think that we all should stand behind our President and forget about left and right and just pray for him. He has a hard job and one that I certainly couldn't do. Anyway, thanks for reading sis.

50 caliber said it all, when children are raised without a parent there to teach them values and morals or ways to direct their anger, then this is going to happen. I truly believe that our society is slowly going down hill in a hand basket. Our government isn't helping the situation either with it's liberal agenda day in and day out. This new administration is supposed to be focusing on more jobs unfortunately all the new jobs are at the white house..... not in the private sector. I truly feel for those who are not employed right now and they have families to support and feed. We are in tough times folks - and need God more than ever, someone needs to tell our president - there is someone else greater than he.

ladyjane1, I hate to get into trying to make sense from non-sense. Folks like Ralphy boy need to get a grip. The Sheriff did his work through legal channels and above board in a time in this country where a legal attempt to have plan "B" is a good idea. The Pentagon had plan "B" and it worked quite well, the illegal actions of a rogue individual was stopped in it's tracks and the tax dollars of a trial were saved as well. Ralphy doesn't understand that when you need a cop right now they are but minutes away. I am licensed to carry a concealed weapon in 34 states and they reason I carry a gun is a cop is way to heavy. Like Ralphy I'm getting old and whipping a young guy who cares to hurt me or others is pretty much a ship that sailed. I have carried a concealed weapon pretty much the better part of my life and have drawn it twice keeping it at low ready behind my leg, fortunately in both instances the young punks who meant to intimidate and lift property from folks present were keen enough to head my words that they needed to move on. They expected that we would cower and give in. I held eye contact and stood firm and they left. Saving their own lives and mental trauma to those who would have to witness the result of their attack had they gone ahead and attempted to carry it out.

What we have is a generation brought up playing video games that teach plotting and carrying out armed assaults, for some reason they think it works like a video game on the street as well. They are a generation not raised by their parents but in a two working parent home to a single mother the kids are dumped at day care and school and left to be raised by these institutions or raise themselves. America has lost it's values. We have the extreme right and the extreme left and the ones in the middle who don't give two shits about anything. There are Ralphys all about the states that would have the right to keep and bear arms taken from law abiding citizens, one only need look at Canada, Australia and the UK to see how crime has soared to new heights since they restricted and legalization of private ownership of firearms by the LAW ABIDING citizens has been removed. The bad guys will always have guns, they don't mind breaking the law to get them or use them.

I hear your pain as you look at these situations as they arise. I don't like the loss of the days where leaving my doors unlocked and the keys in my car any more than anyone else. The thought of 6 young men breaking in to a house and beating and raping a woman all night long and then killing her while her young children watch, is despicable. So if they live in a society where they have to fear being stopped, naturally they will choose to do it less than if they have a 95% chance that the house is unable to protect it self. As things work in the United States we actually have fewer incidents of this type than any other country. If you want to see the difference let the extreme left outlaw the measures of self defense and you will see the buzzard begin roosting in the trees. We live in dangerous times and if you do a youtube search or a 911recording search you can hear people getting murdered in their homes.

After the the plane flew into the IRS building in Austin Texas, the shootings in Ft Hood, and now this pentagon shooting makes you wonder what is next? People are so tired of being stressed out, worried about loosing their job, and being ignored by the government, some can't take it any more and just snap. It is scary.
