Sir Keir Starmer: Favourite to Win First Round.
Labour Leadership Hopeful: Sir Keir Starmer.
Sir Keir Starmer, is, without doubt, the great hope many in the Labour party, are hoping will make the party electable again. Obviously, that may not include the Corbynistas, many of those in this current leadership race will be putting their support behind RLB (Rebecca Long-Bailey, Corbyn's supposed designated successor).
Many in the Labour party and perhaps, without, see Mr Starmer, as the man to take the fight to Boris. Indeed, in one speech, Sir Keir said he would pursue Boris relentlessly. The Labour party after its horrendous defeat in December needs a leader who can connect to the people it lost and hold Boris to account.
It would appear, according to a poll conducted by Sky News, that Sir Keir, will win the first round of the leadership race. This is the first time in a poll, when Labour members, can vote including Trade Unions and registered Labour Supporters.
Running concurrently, with the leadership contest, is the deputy leadership race. The favourite there is Angela Rayner, she is on 47% with Richard Burgon on 19%, Rosena Allin-Khan on 13%, Dawn Butler on 12% and Ian Murray on 9%.
Going back to Sir Keir, he is a candidate that is popular amongst both male and female, also, across the generations.
Labour whoever wins the Labour leadership race (and indeed the deputy one) will have a mountain to climb. Especially over the 5 years of this Tory administration. Boris has promised much, yes he has delivered Brexit, but how negotiations go between the UK and the EU, remain to be seen.
Meanwhile, Bo-Jo promised to level up the country to bring prosperity to all. Perhaps Boris will make good on his promises, however, if he does not, then that is where Labour comes in.
