Stuck In The Past With Obama

Updated on March 16, 2012

The last time I checked, just this morning in fact, the earth isn't flat but Obama's policies are. I also noticed that gas prices jumped 12 cents a gallon overnight. He seems to want to cut continuously funny about the soaring prices of gasoline. He might have a future as a comedian, but his future as the President of our nation is on the skids so he wants to make people laugh. Many of us haven't been laughing during the past three plus years as we've watched him spend money like a drunken sailor on shore leave and continue his campaign rhetoric from day one until present. He is a good Campaigner-In-Chief and a total flop as the leader of the greatest nation on earth.

He has no room to criticize anyone and his jokes about the energy crisis are pathetic. The audiences he has when he acts like a clown must be reading the cue cards that say - Laugh Now - every time the teleprompter gives him a new gag line. I do indeed gag whenever I have to hear him. His latest was calling his opponents "stuck in the past" and not serious about solving the energy crisis. Really? Someone needs to inform the President that despite his wishes and windmill chasing, the nation and the entire world runs on fossil fuels and will continue to run on fossil fuels whether he likes it or not.

His Fondest Wish

Most of us are "stuck in the present" and it gets more painful every day whenever we have to pull up to the pump. Obama doesn't have to do that. Nor does he have to buy groceries and the necessities of life because we, the tax payer, are doing that for him. Many of us can no longer take even a meager vacation much less the extravagant vacations Obama takes, again at our expense. We are now living through the pain Obama has created the past few years by his lack of knowledge and leadership. He has squandered billions and billions of our tax dollars practicing crony capitalism, the only kind he knows, trying to supposedly supply our energy needs with alternative sources. The fact is the world runs on fossil fuels.

Then in his latest diatribe he wants to criticize those who are running against him as "professional politicians...who are running for a certain office." He has got to be kidding us. He doesn't consider himself to be a "professional politician?" What else, besides being a Community Organizer, has he ever really done to earn his daily bread. He's been on the tax payer's payroll most of his life. He is right about that "certain office" part though. It's the office he had no business sitting in from the get go.

He claims that people who oppose him fail to see the future of green energy. Lets deal with the present and his lack of failing to deal with the present. That is what he gets paid to do and has failed to do his job. Instead we get more finger pointing and empty rhetoric. His claims that his wind power, solar power, bio-fuel proposals and gas standard proposals are being made a joke. They are a joke but they aren't funny in light of the fact that he has poured more money than most of us can shake a stick at forking over our tax dollars to companies that have gone belly up, or are on the edge of doing so, as a reward to his bundlers and supporters.

Then Obama spouts off with this line, “We’ve heard this kind of thinking before. Let me tell you something. If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail, they must have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society; they would not have believed that the world was round.” I have Obama being the leader of the "Flat Head Society" myself as he seems intent on fantasizing about the future while the rest of us suffer through the present due to his lack of leadership. We need a leader not some buffoon who wants to crack funny about our economic misery. The Misery Index is shooting through the ceiling and that is in the present.

He is on the defensive and he should be. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC poll 65% disapprove of his handling of rising fuel prices and 26% approve while 9% have no opinion. That 26% figure must attach to anyone who hasn't pulled up to the pump lately. The 9% who have no opinion usually don't have an opinion about anything anyway.

Has George Screaming!

Then he wanted to hammer away at the drilling, or lack of it, issue trying to claim credit for increased production. He knows better because oil production isn't all about sticking a straw in the ground and sucking up the crude. It takes years to develop wells that are productive,. He's leaving out that part of the story. The increases we have seen are attributed to the past administration, not his. It takes 3 to 5 years in the oil production industry so do the math.

Crude production in this nation has increased. But the majority of those increases have happened on private lands, the Bakken being a prime example. Other increases are attributed to lease agreements on federal lands made prior to his assumption to office. He conveniently leaves out that oil production on federal lands has dipped this past year due to his moratoriums and making the permitting process so difficult that it doesn't make sense.

While he is yammering away and making funny he fails to mention things like his nixing the Keystone Pipeline contending that he wasn't given enough time. That pipeline has been under study for over three years so how much time does he need? He did that to assuage his environmentalist tree hugger supporters. After all, it is an election year and he will need every vote he can get to continue to chase windmills and who knows what else at our expense.

Again this is the case of not listening to what Obama says but watch what he is doing. At the present that is absolutely nothing other than campaigning which he has been doing since he assumed office. He says he feels our pain? I've felt the painfulness associated with electing such an unqualified individual for over three years now. He obviously doesn't know how that feels, nor do I think he cares. He just wants another four years to exercise his agenda. His Energy Secretary has already publicly stated that this administration doesn't want oil prices to go down. You know the old European model where gas prices are in the 8-9 dollar a gallon range. I wonder what that 26% who approve of his energy policies will think when that happens. It is called "Drill-Baby-Drill" Obama because the world still runs on petroleum and will continue that way far into the future.

I suggest that he, and Little Joey Biden, get back to the nation's Capitol and get busy doing what they are paid to do instead of running some comedy, campaign circuit. No, the world isn't flat but I see an administration that is flat on its butt and going into the panic mode.
