Stuck In The Past With Obama

Updated on March 16, 2012

The last time I checked, just this morning in fact, the earth isn't flat but Obama's policies are. I also noticed that gas prices jumped 12 cents a gallon overnight. He seems to want to cut continuously funny about the soaring prices of gasoline. He might have a future as a comedian, but his future as the President of our nation is on the skids so he wants to make people laugh. Many of us haven't been laughing during the past three plus years as we've watched him spend money like a drunken sailor on shore leave and continue his campaign rhetoric from day one until present. He is a good Campaigner-In-Chief and a total flop as the leader of the greatest nation on earth.

He has no room to criticize anyone and his jokes about the energy crisis are pathetic. The audiences he has when he acts like a clown must be reading the cue cards that say - Laugh Now - every time the teleprompter gives him a new gag line. I do indeed gag whenever I have to hear him. His latest was calling his opponents "stuck in the past" and not serious about solving the energy crisis. Really? Someone needs to inform the President that despite his wishes and windmill chasing, the nation and the entire world runs on fossil fuels and will continue to run on fossil fuels whether he likes it or not.

His Fondest Wish

Most of us are "stuck in the present" and it gets more painful every day whenever we have to pull up to the pump. Obama doesn't have to do that. Nor does he have to buy groceries and the necessities of life because we, the tax payer, are doing that for him. Many of us can no longer take even a meager vacation much less the extravagant vacations Obama takes, again at our expense. We are now living through the pain Obama has created the past few years by his lack of knowledge and leadership. He has squandered billions and billions of our tax dollars practicing crony capitalism, the only kind he knows, trying to supposedly supply our energy needs with alternative sources. The fact is the world runs on fossil fuels.

Then in his latest diatribe he wants to criticize those who are running against him as "professional politicians...who are running for a certain office." He has got to be kidding us. He doesn't consider himself to be a "professional politician?" What else, besides being a Community Organizer, has he ever really done to earn his daily bread. He's been on the tax payer's payroll most of his life. He is right about that "certain office" part though. It's the office he had no business sitting in from the get go.

He claims that people who oppose him fail to see the future of green energy. Lets deal with the present and his lack of failing to deal with the present. That is what he gets paid to do and has failed to do his job. Instead we get more finger pointing and empty rhetoric. His claims that his wind power, solar power, bio-fuel proposals and gas standard proposals are being made a joke. They are a joke but they aren't funny in light of the fact that he has poured more money than most of us can shake a stick at forking over our tax dollars to companies that have gone belly up, or are on the edge of doing so, as a reward to his bundlers and supporters.

Then Obama spouts off with this line, “We’ve heard this kind of thinking before. Let me tell you something. If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail, they must have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society; they would not have believed that the world was round.” I have Obama being the leader of the "Flat Head Society" myself as he seems intent on fantasizing about the future while the rest of us suffer through the present due to his lack of leadership. We need a leader not some buffoon who wants to crack funny about our economic misery. The Misery Index is shooting through the ceiling and that is in the present.

He is on the defensive and he should be. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC poll 65% disapprove of his handling of rising fuel prices and 26% approve while 9% have no opinion. That 26% figure must attach to anyone who hasn't pulled up to the pump lately. The 9% who have no opinion usually don't have an opinion about anything anyway.

Has George Screaming!

Then he wanted to hammer away at the drilling, or lack of it, issue trying to claim credit for increased production. He knows better because oil production isn't all about sticking a straw in the ground and sucking up the crude. It takes years to develop wells that are productive,. He's leaving out that part of the story. The increases we have seen are attributed to the past administration, not his. It takes 3 to 5 years in the oil production industry so do the math.

Crude production in this nation has increased. But the majority of those increases have happened on private lands, the Bakken being a prime example. Other increases are attributed to lease agreements on federal lands made prior to his assumption to office. He conveniently leaves out that oil production on federal lands has dipped this past year due to his moratoriums and making the permitting process so difficult that it doesn't make sense.

While he is yammering away and making funny he fails to mention things like his nixing the Keystone Pipeline contending that he wasn't given enough time. That pipeline has been under study for over three years so how much time does he need? He did that to assuage his environmentalist tree hugger supporters. After all, it is an election year and he will need every vote he can get to continue to chase windmills and who knows what else at our expense.

Again this is the case of not listening to what Obama says but watch what he is doing. At the present that is absolutely nothing other than campaigning which he has been doing since he assumed office. He says he feels our pain? I've felt the painfulness associated with electing such an unqualified individual for over three years now. He obviously doesn't know how that feels, nor do I think he cares. He just wants another four years to exercise his agenda. His Energy Secretary has already publicly stated that this administration doesn't want oil prices to go down. You know the old European model where gas prices are in the 8-9 dollar a gallon range. I wonder what that 26% who approve of his energy policies will think when that happens. It is called "Drill-Baby-Drill" Obama because the world still runs on petroleum and will continue that way far into the future.

I suggest that he, and Little Joey Biden, get back to the nation's Capitol and get busy doing what they are paid to do instead of running some comedy, campaign circuit. No, the world isn't flat but I see an administration that is flat on its butt and going into the panic mode.

I read that report about Obama "updating" some law on Friday afternoon. I personally think it is a subtle threat that Obama likes to do to conservatives to get them riled up. Nothing more. Obama doesn't have the cajones to institute marshal law over something like gas prices. How often has gas prices gone up since the Arab oil embargo back in 1973? Even the Democratic Party would turn its back on him if he did something like that. Now, Progressives will back him to the hilt and, yes, I recognize there is a powerful Progressive wing in the Democratic Party. But, I think they would be overshadowed by the "adults in the room" in the Democratic Party.

That said, nothing Obama does will surprise me any longer. If he were to bring forth martial law, stopping electuions, etc., every militia in the country would take to the streets. The OKC bombing of 1995 would be commonplace if Obama did something that stupid. I just don't see this scenario ever taking place. War would break out all over America....again.

Hey Stu, you're right, I mentioned the marshal law thing two years ago. Don't underestimate the lengths this not so funny clown will go to in his effort to "fundamentally transform" the nation. What EVERYONE needs to understand is that Obama is not an incompetent jokester, but in fact, hell bent on destroying America. When you realize that everything he does makes sense. And remember Bev Purdue's trial ballon a couple of months ago about suspending elections this November. Personally I wouldn't put anything past our Marxist-in-Chief.

Angela - At times I'm known to affectionately call him Snarky Smirksalot. Fitting name I believe.

Writer David - My understanding is that the DOE omitted Solyndra from a report of alternative energy grants/loans. Strange huh? Just sweep that $535 million under the carpet where it can't be seen.

dahoglund - We're supposed to be the new "European" model I reckon.

I always wonder when they say we should have gas prices like those somewhere else. We are not somewhere else. Conditions are different here.Driving distances are further.Public transportation is not practical in much of the country.Of course, there is nuclear to replace oil.A nuclear car would be neat. Didn't they make some of those in the 1960's?

Obama makes jokes about the energy crisis at the expense of Americans struggling to make ends meet in this "recovering economy." Funny thing though, I never see him crack jokes about his pet green energy project, Solyndra, that went belly up. That is an investigation the DOJ is keeping under wraps until after the election. Meanwhile, the MSM lemmings just keep jumping off the cliff for Obama.

I say one (perhaps the only thing) good thing about the Obama Error; the news media has been officially outed for what we have always said they were, a bunch of effeminate liberals batting their eyes at their Messiah.

Have been out of pocket for a couple of weeks and not kept up much with the news so checked you out immediately, Frog -- I'm once again up to date and the beat goes on -- loved Fred's word "snarky" -- definitely a fit. Voted up. Best/Sis

I am convinced, Frog, that la-la land has moved from California to D.C. We have a Secretary of Energy declaring that the administration does NOT want gasoline prices to go lower. Whaaaaaaat?

teaches - The technology isn't there. The market place develops the technology, not the federal government. It will take more time, maybe another 50+ years to achieve the desired effect. As far as alternate fuels, the distribution network isn't in place either.

Fred - With Obama there has never been any shortage of material :)

Stu - Probably a valid feeling. But I remember Jimmie Carter and the confidence he had that he was going to get a second term. Keep in mind who the real majority is in this nation - the silent one.

      Hi Frog,

I can see November from my house too, and it scares me. Right now, Obama is running neck and neck with Romney in the polls, and Romney has a good chance of winning the GOP nomination. I have great fear about what might happen over the next few months if Obama's poll numbers don't go up. I can seriously see him precipitating some kind of national emergency on purpose to declare marshal law and suspend elections, unless he is at least reasonably confident he can beat the GOP primary winner in the general election. We also have the issue of what Obama might do if he is reelected. He knows he can't legally be elected to a third term. So the possibility of suspending elections based on some contrived pretext may arise in 2016. It's just a feeling, but I think he just may not ever be willing to give up his current power and perks.

(*Sigh*) I'm suffering from abundance. Without even doubling up on your topics, the inspirations for anti-O Hubs just keep on a-comin'...

...but thanks for touching on his smirky-snarky "comedy" efforts. Nothing like a grade school level mocker to get a voter's dander up. Although if it goes much FARTHER up, I'm definitely going to have to invest in a longer ladder.

Thanks for the viewpoint on his green theory. It is a good thing to pursue for future consumption but, as you say, what about the present? And what's with all the people fainting at his speeches? Just saying.

tom - All any ad exec needs to do is be creative with what Obama and his minions have said as they head in the exact opposite direction. I could do a number on Obama because I watch what he does as he says what he is going to do. The two are usually diametrically opposed.

Wizard of Whimsy - I like my whale blubber with a side of collards and grits. Thanks for stopping by.

tsadjatko - Obviously I listened to his empty campaign speech which according to The Whine House was a policy speech. About what? Gas prices? It was comical.

BPOP - You and I usually read the same news sources and have sworn off the Lame Stream Media to provide any useful information.

Davesworld - I am appalled. If the truth ever emerged I would be astonished. It's usually spin and nothing more.

Here's a tip - Invest in algae farms.

Besides not knowing how to pronounce Corpsman he doesn't know how Rutherford is pronounced either - he pronounced Rutherford Rooth erford - that's right like in the name Ruth. Ya think that teleprompter will get HIM on Mount Rushmore?

Oh and did you hear his latest speech? Obama’s whopper about Rutherford B. Hayes and the telephone? In a speech on energy Thursday, the president took aim at the “cynics and naysayers” who dismiss potential new sources of energy, such as wind and solar. This is a quote:

“Of course, we’ve heard this kind of thinking before. If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail, they must have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society. … There always have been folks who are the naysayers and don't believe in the future, and don't believe in trying to do things differently. One of my predecessors, Rutherford B. Hayes, reportedly said about the telephone, ‘It’s a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?’ That's why he's not on Mt. Rushmore because he’s looking backwards. He’s not looking forwards. He’s explaining why we can't do something, instead of why we can do something.”

      The Facts

The quote cited by Obama does exist on the Internet, but we would expect the White House staff to do better research than that. (This line was in the president’s prepared text, so it was not ad-libbed.) But the trouble is, historians say that there is no evidence Hayes ever said this. Not only that, contrary to Obama’s jab, Hayes was interested in new technology.

Is it that he hates Catholics? or maybe it was he didn't like what the Pope said to him.

The Pope and Obama were on the same stage in Yankee Stadium in front of a huge crowd.

The Pope leans towards Mr. Obama and said,

"Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, but will go deep into their hearts and they'll forever speak of this day and rejoice!"

Obama replied, "I seriously doubt that ~ with one little wave of your hand? Show me!"

So the Pope backhanded him and knocked him off the stage!

Kind of brings a tear to your eyes, doesn't it?
