The Joe Biden-Michael Flynn Smoking Gun?
It's about the Logan Act
This seldom invoked Act from 1799 bars anyone U.S. government official from engaging in “any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government.” It only has been used twice in 1803 and 1852 against an official and resulted in no conviction. It is a very broad policy regulation on its face.
Flynn, who was the National Security Advisor for Trump, had been convicted of lying about his conversations with high level Russians when asked by the FBI. This was overturned and Flynn was allowed to withdraw his plea of guilty. According ex-FBI agent Strzok notes from January 2017, when President Obama and others (including Biden) were discussing the Flynn issue and whether to go after him, it was Biden who suggested the Logan Act, which few knew about. When Biden was asked about this today, at first, he said he knew nothing about it. Then, he later said he misunderstood the reporter's question, Biden indicated that he was aware that Obama wanted to investigate Flynn but that was all. Biden did not recall mentioning the Logan Act during that 2017 meeting.
At the time, FBI director Comey, indicated that Flynn's discussions with the Russians appeared to be legitimate to those in the meeting. Thus, was Flynn then later entrapped and prosecuted? Of course, at time of the meeting, January 2017, maybe not enough evidence had been found about Flynn's conversations with the Russians, and as time went by, it was found out to be different.
Of course, Biden is a forgetful 2020 presidential candidate, and who does recall a meeting three years ago and what was said? I doubt if Trump could recall, either. But still, it does cast a shadow on Biden. Was he lying about knowing about it or did he just not recall? In any case, it was Biden who mentioned the Logan Act and it was used to prosecute Flynn, but that is it, or is it?
If you listen to Fox, they say it is a smoking gun in some way and Biden is lying about how much he knows about it and how involved he was other than just suggesting using the Logan Act to prosecute Flynn. To counter this, Trump always is lying or telling half truths about nearly everything. This is something FOX hates to admit because it IS true.
Trump has indicated while on Hannity, that Biden will be our next president. This completely caught Hannity off guard. As stunning as this seems, one has to wonder what the hell Trump is up to?
The Flynn prosecution now, in hindsight, to have been entrapment of sorts. Flynn was a target of Obama's team that seems to have gone awry, but does anyone really care?
