Conservatives Know What Is Best For You!

Updated on October 2, 2011

Conservatives claim to believe in a less intrusive government. Baloney! They want the government to tell gays they cannot get married. They want the government to tell women they cannot abort a fetus even in cases of rape and incest. They are stuck with the fact that Abortion is legal so they are attempting to backdoor their ideology through government by withdrawing financial support for Planned Parenthood. They want the government to authorize their moral agenda with prayer in the classroom, Religious expression in government buildings, and remove separation of Church and State. That sounds pretty intrusive to me!

But a newsflash in Wyoming, the most Republican State in the Union. An Anti Abortion Bill was just defeated by truly conservative Republicans. Wyoming has some real conservatives that believe in less Government Intrusion, and to them this means keep the government out of my doctor's office. Don't tell them they have to read something to me or show me a sonogram. I am an adult and I am not yielding power to the government for my decisions. Hallelujah! Conservatives that actually believe in less intrusive government. And they are from the reddest state in the Union.

Conservatives claim to be concerned with the Federal Deficit. But they fought hard to ensure very unnecessary tax cuts were extended to the Ruling Class. Even when some such as Bill Gates made it clear they did not want or need the tax cuts! They refuse to raise taxes for anyone but want to dabble with the small portions of the budget that have a big impact on the poor and middle class. They want to repeal and cut all funding for the New Health Care Law. The law they like to despairingly call “OBAMA CARE”. And they want to cut all support to Public Broadcasting. But they do not want to cut any cooperate welfare to supporters like the Koch Brothers. Does welfare for the rich and withdrawal of benefits to the poor and middle class really qualify as fiscally conservative?

Conservatives want to reject all science that does not support their ideology. They do not believe in global warming because they do not support the “Green Solutions” it would support. They do not believe in evolution because it offends their fundamentalist Christians friends. They are as backward as the people that arrested Galileo. If Science does not support their view it is wrong and they will spend lots of money if necessary to get someone to sound authoritative to refute Science.

So do not tell me these people love America. They do what they need to win elections, not to serve America.

Now, An interesting study at the University College London's Institute revealed something special about the brains of right wing nuts. That's right, their brains are different. There is a portion of the brain is the source of fear. This is called the Amygdala. We now know the Amygdala was significantly larger and thicker in those people who described themselves as conservative. So could it be there is a true difference in the brain?

Let's take the Gay issue. It is not my charge to make a decision as to decide that Gays should be pushed to choose another kind of life. That is a non-starter for me. It is not my business to be arrogant enough to assume homosexuality is something wrong and one should attempt to "EXIT HOMOSEXUALITY". I am surprised, since you call yourself a conservative, that you think you do have that right. It is not my business and neither is it yours and neither is it the government's business. It is intrusive and arrogant.

Let's take prayer in school. If I do not believe in your God then why should I be forced to pray or be singled out for not wanting to pray. Again, you call yourself conservative but you want me to accept your way of living because that is your tradition. We do have separation of church and state and a truly conservative person would not want to be so arrogant and intrusive as to say my tradition should be your tradition.

Now global warming. Nature does not care what excuses we give. When we reach the point of no return Nature does not care that tax breaks to corporations and the wealthiest Americans were more important than the Earth's ecosystem. That is when the lies will stop. A conservative like Teddy Roosevelt would care about the eco system and realize unregulated growth would be a dangerous proposition. Wanting a Corporatocracy is not conservative just greedy.

Schools would not be closed down if Republican Governors were not so eager to give money to corporations causing a deficit that goes on the backs of school kids.

Your premise sounds open minded but it does not stand up to the facts. Today's conservatives are simply the puppets of the richest Americans and Corporations and they try so little to hide it I wonder if you have been living under a rock!

It's not really hypocrisy as keeping the idealogies of an older more traditional America- problem is this nation is changing drastically. Gay marriage is a moral issue in the political arena and that's never a good mix. Conservatives will state there are more reasons than just moral for outlawing gay marriage and there are, but you have one side who sees the moral principle only in it and those same liberals want to push that moral issue yet they don't want conservtives to push the moral issue of leaving prayer and pledge of allegiance in schools.THats hypocrisy. Liberals pick a moral issue and go with the poltical party that supports their issue. But why not pick a politcal party, then support issues separately. All these issues are clouding politics when the real issue s the candidates in general- repub or democrat have not been good the last several years. THat's a bigger issue. Both repub and dem politicians are disapointing and running their own agendas with almost criminal behavior. Well, some of them have been invlved in criminal behavior.

I'm not sure how prayer and pledge of allegiance harms children in school. Other countries preserve many traditions and core beliefs from history. We don't have an extensive history so it would be nice to preserve some of that. Even if not everyone trusts in God- "In God we Trust". Liberals tend to want to please everyone all of the time.

There are pluses and minuses to conservative and liberal views. However, since politics isn't a religion, we are free to choose what we will support. The issue is our politicians are extreme liberals or extreme rigth-wing and we need somebody who lives closer to the middle of the right or left.

Global warming is an afterthought rigth now. We just don't have the money to support the necessary efforts to put environmental policies and ideas in place. I wish we did, but we don't. We have schools closing down due to lack of money to keep them open yet on the last voting ballot, here is something about making schools more environmentally friendly. How about, let's keep them open?

The first step is to recognize liberals or conservatives are not better than one another. Many average Americans range somewhere in the middle so let's start there and stop finding fault in one side or the other.

      Mr American Romance

Our government is for the people by the people - not corporations, so that is exactly what our government should be paying for, not coprorate welfare. Government pays for vigra, so why not pay for the things that vigra causes!!!!

What private company are you refering to Walmart, McDonalds that pay 80% less than government workers.

You guys can write this stuff all day and try to get sympathy, You cannot deny facts! When the private sector jobs pensions and benifits are 80% less than the govt workers that are taking from their pockets, something is wrong! Our tax money has no business paying for abortions, planned parenthood uses our money for what it wants too! time to say no more!

Terry, you're spot on. What's sad is that "the American people" are stuck on stupid. All one has to do is connect the dots. If you think about this union farce. Remember when Wall Street got the big bonuses...well the story was they couldn't be repealed because Wall Streeters had a contract. Well union workers had a contract too.

People act as if public employees don't pay taxes. In fact, how about Congressmen coughing up some of their benefits. It's one big con. Honestly, they make me want to cuss.

Thanks for your support. I appreciate you. Now I'm going to read your hub on the Extreme Right.

      Up and Awesome!

The Republicans get the vast majority of their campaign contributions from corporations and the rich. This is especially true after the Supreme Court's abominable Citizens United decision. Therefore they do all they can for them and cut most everything they can for the poor and middle class. Now they are moving in on the unions to cut a lot of the campaign funding off from Democrats. Fortunately people are standing up against this. The Left seems to have awakened and that is good news for the 2012 elections. Great Hub.
