Together We Can Make This Happen

Updated on November 1, 2009

Meet At The Wall

Thousands of supporters like you are joining Repower America in an unprecedented grassroots organization and communication effort.

Former Vice President Al Gore's new initiative is the Repower America Wall - a revolutionary approach to standing up for what our country needs. It combines the power of thousands of voices with the force of a multi-media campaign, to build a collective call for change so loud it's undeniable.

In an email I received today, Mr. Gore wrote, “The Wall is a place where literally thousands and thousands of people committed to a revolutionary new energy future for our nation and the world are coming together -- to express our hopes, share our resolve, and step up to a leadership role in building a grassroots movement for change like nothing America has ever seen.”

You are invited to share your thoughts, images and videos on the wall and you will receive an URL which you can then promote on your website, Twitter, blog or favorite social site (Facebook, etc.).

According to Mr. Gore, the campaign brings together the power of national media with the strength and connection of on-the-ground organizing in a way that no one has ever done before.

“What you and I do today will determine everything about our country's future and the world our children will inherit. The time for action is right now and the cause deserves your best efforts,” wrote Gore, “Together we can make this happen.”

Your voice, and the voices of your friends, neighbors and colleagues, will become the language of the Repower America campaign on TV, in print, on billboards, online, and in new ways that become apparent as a result of this campaign.

“We know that the political will to transition America to a clean energy economy already exists. But now we must make sure our leaders know it too. The Wall will become our collective voice and thus transform the debate into action,” Gore wrote. “It's an ambitious strategy -- and it has to be.”

He goes on to say unless everyone joins together and puts pressure of our leaders, there will never be a good enough reason for them to ignore the powerful special interests blocking our country's path to a clean energy future.

“When key decisions are at hand, we'll light up the Wall to let politicians who side with powerful interests against clean energy do so at their own peril,” wrote Gore, “When our opponents throw roadblocks in our way, we'll gather at the Wall to fight back.”

The next step for the program begins next week when national television ads featuring real voices from the Wall will begin airing.

“What you and I do today will determine everything about our country's future and the world our children will inherit. The time for action is right now and the cause deserves your best efforts,” wrote Gore, “Together we can make this happen.”

Make your voice heard - contribute to The Wall now

As you most likely know, this is not Gore's first foray into political activism for the environment. His trophy cabinet holds an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, Nobel Peace Prize (jointly with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a Primetime Emmy Award and a Webby Award. He's the co-founder and chair of Current TV.
