Trumped Up Charges

Chiquita is Agitated

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, June 6, 2016. Our noisy friend, Chiquita Cicada, is at the breakfast table this morning. She has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning to help settle her jangled nervous system. Chiquita just returned from San Jose. She was witness to the violence that erupted after a Donald Trump rally. Lowlife protestors, better described as a mob, attacked Trump supporters by pelting them with eggs, bottles and anything else they could get their hands on. Chiquita was almost killed when a lunatic attempted to clip her wings with a steak knife. Chiquita will be serving oatmeal this morning. I will have some French toast on hand for those among us who are not big fans of oatmeal. We hope to see you soon.

Not Enough Handcuffs

Thank you all so much for joining me. These crazies who choose violence first and foremost as their form of protest deserve to be arrested. Judging from the appearance of these people, I had a strong feeling that they were told to show up and possibly paid to show up. The question is worth exploring, because whoever is behind this disgusting behavior is just as responsible as the fools who are out there on the streets hurting innocent people. The response of the San Jose police was lame at best. The police officers were dressed in riot gear, but their attire did not match their actions. In fact, they barely took any action at all. It was reported that attacks were taking place on the side streets surrounding the venue, and there was no police presence at all.

Defending the Indefensible

There is no question that more could have been done to end the ugly violence. San Jose Police Chief, Eddie Garcia, commended his officers' response to the violence. Standing around and letting things deteriorate is not a correct response to violence. The Police Chief defended his officers stating that they were disciplined and showed restraint. What they showed is that in these messed up times, police are being heavily criticized and even prosecuted for doing their jobs. Thanks to President Obama and the Justice Department, we now have police who would rather stand down than lose their jobs or their lives. I can't even imagine what those under attack felt like when they watched the police just stare at them as they were punched and egged. I know what I felt like, but I am, after all, just a bug with human qualities rather than a human with bug qualities. To add to the insanity, San Jose Mayor Sam Riccardo, a supporter of Clinton, criticized Trump for coming to cities and igniting problems. He went on to say that at some point Trump has to take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign. Mr. Mayor, Donald Trump didn't cause these riots. The morons outside are totally accountable for their actions. Let's put the blame where it belongs. It belongs with them, whoever is supporting them, on you for deflecting the issue and on the police for doing nothing to end it.

From the Top Down

Setting a match to an already out of control fire is insane and dangerous. President Obama doesn't help this ugly scene by comparing the San Jose violence to "bad habits" of the Republican Party. Obama accused Republicans of engaging in violence akin to that perpetrated by the losers assaulting people at the rally for Trump. The president has it all wrong. The violence lies squarely in the hands of those who are out of control harming others. The Republicans have nothing to do with it, but perhaps Obama should look in the mirror and realize that he has played a major role in breaking down our society and causing this great divide.

Sane Minds Must Prevail

It's time we put the blame on those who are truly at fault. It's time that we untie the hands of the police and let them do their job without one thousand eyes watching and evaluating their every move. It's time we demand that candidates start telling the truth. We must do the same with all politicians from the president to the local guy on a township committee. We can't keep shifting the blame to others. We can't defend anyone, including our children, from lying in order to save themselves. It's time that we condemn the misguided views and actions of people like the Mayor of San Jose who reacted with anger during the violence. His anger landed on Trump and his supporters and Riccardo should have been taken to task for his dangerous and foolish response. It is time that we take a long needed look into the people behind the protestors. I suggest we do that now. It is the only chance we have of stopping this growing trend of violence, insanity and intolerance.

Chiquita's Song

I'm Chiquita Cicada

And I'm here to say

The thugs have got to go

They've had their day!
