Trust and fear

Trust and fear. An example.
Trust and fear. An example.

Lately, it seems to me that it is real easy to become very discouraged about our nation’s future right now. It is my opinion, that our leadership is lacking greatly and we are on the cusps of spiraling out of control. The national affordable health care bill seems to be everything but affordable to most hard working Americans. Our national debt is escalating, and Washington seems to be doing all it can to not “deal with it”.

More and more people are steadily becoming more dependent to the proverbial government tit. Those on food stamps have doubled since our current POTUS took office. The number of folks who can now claim a check in the name of being disabled has skyrocketed. Kids who are graduating college have no place to go find a job so they can pay off that enormous debt they accumulated to achieve that diploma.

Those who have been fortunate enough to hang on to their jobs, in many cases have not received raises to adjust for the cost of living. It is a struggle to stay afloat.

We see more and more out-of-wedlock births that assure this lifestyle of being dependent on our government continues and grows.

Declaration of War

It has been exactly 50 years now since LBJ and the democrats declared war on poverty, yet we have nothing but more poverty to show for it. As a mater of fact, the percentage of children living in poverty is essentially unchanged since 1964, and by many estimates, Our government has spent over $15 trillion on anti-poverty programs over the last five decades.

It now seems more than ever, that our world’s allies no longer trusts us and our enemies no longer fear us. I find this extremely troublesome.

I strongly believe that our once cherished moral values have been replaced with being politically correct. Integrity has left the White House. Having courage to stand on principals that built this nation no-longer exists. The ability to go on television to tell the world that we will no longer tolerate any enemy, foreign and domestic, who has the desire to weaken this nation. The very oath that ALL Presidents take seems NOT to be taken to heart, but are just mere words said on inaugural day. That our Constitution MUST be honored. But has it?

I am optimistic

This is indeed just another rant of mine, which means nothing. It is just MY words. Yet, I am hopeful and optimistic. I truly believe that the pendulum swings back a forth. I think it will swing back to the right.

Through all of this rant, I failed to mention just how significant I think our God has in things. Maybe the lack of God would be better. So many people now find it much easier to not rock the boat, and allow God to slowly be removed from our daily lives. Not to offend those who choose to believe that God is nothing more than a fairy tale.

That the principals and moral values we at one time held dearly was given to us by His Word. The Bible spelled out His significance. Our forefathers utilized it. Our grandparents cherished it. It is not too late; to start doing what our heart tells us to do. To simply put God first in our lives, and live the way we all know we should live. Quit worrying about offending a small group of people. I still believe that the vast majority of us still believe that God is our creator and He is exactly who He says He is in the Bible.

Shining City on a Hill

My vision is we will all turn to God, put Him first. Love and protect our families and neighbors second. Then I think we can see this Nation become what Ronald Reagan always referred to as that shining city on a hill. A beacon of light for all that is good. I think we may be down, but not out.

Corny? Perhaps, but I feel much better getting this off my chest. Besides, I haven’t written a hub in a while so here it is.
