Tevya is at the Stove

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Saturday, June 30, 2018. Our interesting friend, Wasp Tevya, is in the kitchen preparing potato pancakes for our enjoyment. Tevya is quite concerned about the growing viciousness of the left. Their calls for resistance have turned into calls for violence. Please join Tevya and me this morning for pancakes and a discussion about our current situation. We hope to see you soon.

The Core of the Matter

Thanks so much for joining POP and me this morning. Our nation is experiencing the wrath of the losers in the presidential election. There aren't that many of them, but they are quite vocal and visible. They are in Congress embodied in the likes of Chuck Schemer, Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters. They are in newspapers like the New York Times. Comedy has been destroyed and in its place is vicious, mean-spirited unfunny attacks upon our president and his family. They are on television on almost every station. Even Fox news, in the interest of being fair and balanced, gives the left a place at the table. Personally, I find it very painful to watch. Hollywood is crawling with unhinged pundits who feel it is totally okay to threaten anyone working in the Trump administration. It has become fashionable to refer to all this ugly behavior as Trump Derangement Syndrome, but I think something much worse is occurring. At the heart of this behavior is something deeper than just disagreeing with a candidate or a president. At its core is the stark reality that we have changed as a nation. Not all of us have changed, but enough of us have unleashed their "inner ugly", and it had to have been there all the time.

A Sleeping Giant

Joy Behar didn't suddenly lose her mind when President Trump was elected. She had to have had all that anger inside of her all along, just waiting for the opportune moment to let it loose. The same has to be true of someone as deranged as Peter Fonda. His remarks about Barron Trump were uttered by a man who always had the capacity to be vicious. All he needed was a reason. All he needed was permission to go off the charts. He got that permission from the MSM. He got that permission from people like Maxine Waters. His ugliness bloomed because the seeds were always there. Now the climate in our nation is allowing people like Fonda to spout hatred and promote violence. He was a disaster waiting to happen, as are all those who continue to oppose this president in unimaginable ways. This isn't going to end well.

Heads in the Sand

It isn't enough to tell people that they have to behave in a civil manner. Uncivilized people can't do that. When Sara Huckabee Sanders was kicked out of a restaurant, the woman who did that had no second thoughts or regrets. If Sanders were more like her, there might have been a violent outcome. Instead, Sanders left, even offering to pay. She behaved that way because that is who she is. The restaurant owner is no "Sanders". She is more like a "Waters", and she always will be. Candidly speaking, not all people are nice. Not all people have a decent side. Not all people regret bad behavior. Our nation isn't perfect, and it never will be.

Consequences

The only deterrent to this really dangerous behavior is consequences. There have to be consequences, and they have to be imposed impartially and across the board. Roseanne lost her show over a tweet. "Sorry" didn't cut it for her, but for Behar, Waters, Whoopi, Fonda, Hillary, Bill and a score of others, there are no consequences. I heard that Fonda's film bombed at the box office, but that is either because it was awful or the public made him pay for his ugliness. The American people are waiting for consequences to follow on the heels of all the crimes being committed in Washington against this administration. The public is waiting for indictments and arrests. The public has grown weary of Congress acting like a toothless tiger. If you want bad behavior to stop it has to be addressed. The intern in D.C. who shouted a profanity at President Trump is still an intern in Washington. Inaction like that keeps the flames burning. If something positive doesn't happen soon, we will burn down our nation once and for all. Sorry doesn't fix the lamp!

Tevya's Song

Dear God,

Did you have to make so many lefties

It's no sin to be a lefty

But it's no great honor either....
