We Need a Revolutionary Approach

Glendon and his wife have led church ministries, conducted empowerment seminars, and travelled to faraway places on business and vacation.

Are you proud of the political legacy that you are leaving to the next generation? I am ashamed and embarrassed at the behaviour of our young people on the streets and doubly ashamed at the apathy to public affairs and social chaos that I see in the middle class. They leave politics to the greedy and the wily, and expect things to change; or they simply lock their grilled homes and hire guards if they can. Otherwise they pray that the police will catch the latest gangs of killers.

Cook or get out of the kitchen. When the kitchen is dirty stink, has no decent code of existence which is followed or cherished then I prefer to get out of the kitchen ad let someone else cook. Alas, I was born here. I have seen too many innocent people killed here. Too much blood has been spilled here. So much money has been defrauded here. And I am trapped in the kitchen

So I ask myself a few questions? Like, Why is that the kids of nearly all the celebrated patriots are overseas? Why is it that all the bright minds are only bright while they are out of politics but once they get inside they just can’t perform?

And I realise that we are being given one big spin. Nothing is real. Island politics is like country people sweeping the yard because visitors are coming. Now we know that decent country people sweep their r yard every morning. We need a Revolutionary approach which will practise proper housekeeping of the nations business.

We need a revolutionary approach which does not try to impress news media or the next pretty face they want to go to bed with.  We need a revolutionary approach which takes into account the viable models out there to escape the debt trap and initiate a programme of production for agriculture and industry.

We need a revolutionary approach where we don’t steal government money to pay hangers on and gunmen to help us win elections, but use every cent to build national infrastructure.

We need a revolutionary approach which will put the constabulary and the military back in charge of the defence and protection of our citizens instead of area leaders who live by a different code than the rest of the citizenry.

We need a revolutionary approach to tame the monster of crime in a radical and brutal way that will include public executions of known unredeemable elements.

We need a revolutionary approach which will initiate the revolution by removing the jokers who are masters of the spin game and replace then with men and women of courage conviction, and new kind of patriotic nobility.

We need a revolutionary approach.

Thanks pay2. Great question. In a perfect world you would have a peaceful transformation. In the real world men and women of conviction will have to make the right decisions and seize the moment when history beckons, ideally as peacefully as possible.

This hub was written in response to deteriorating society and economy of the island of Jamaica.

Because of the blessings of democracy one would wish for democratic solutions. Even as I write the disintegration continues, and leadership offers empty rhetoric.

Great hub. I completely agree. The only question is: will this be a peaceful Revolution or not?
