What is Your Opinion About Wikileaks?
With over 700,000 followers on Facebook, Wikileaks does have a strong following. But, how do you feel about it?
I have no problem with it at all. All we are mostly seeing are communication cables in the most recent release between embassies and others which are not secret. The information contained therein represent many times, the diplomat's real thoughts behind the public statement spin. No doubt, embarrassing to those parties because they are the "naked" truth about their feelings or the facts.
The previous Afghanistan releases only further support that like Vietnam, this war is a total failed mess and even if there are some minor wins, after the US leaves, chaos will return because the Afghans are simply incapable of doing it. Corruption is all over. Much of those releases had been known. Few secrets were exposed.
The current batch released exposes a lot of what most privately thought about Iran and what to do about it with regards to their nuclear ambitions. Hell, who did not think that way? I am sure Iran's secret service was well aware what the Saudi's truly thought etc. They have always known the US is trying to derail their plans in any way they can. The documents leaked of China also shows that regime is not as it appears. They have provided Iran with many nuclear manufacturing equipment despite the embargo of Europe and USA, they need iran's oil. They tend to remain neutral in the UN regarding it and North Korea. China is only a friend because they need the West, should that need no longer be required, China will expand outside its borders.
If nothing more, Wikileaks is forcing governments be more careful about their internal communications and what they say. Assange is just a hacker that hacked into secure systems that were weak. I am sure they are now much more secure. Seems the governments are trying to shut him down. Access to their own website is difficult.
