A Proud, conservative, white Christian.
Putting it bluntly...
I'm just plain, outright, sick and tired of being "bashed" and "put-down" merely because who I am. That being a "White, Conservative, Christian". If you fit any three of these pronouns, you probably understand what I am talking about.
Let's start with: White
Because I'm white, it seems like I have to be apologetic for something that happened to others long before I was even born. Back to the days when slavery existed and the American Indian was under attack. It seems that many Americans out there now deem it necessary that our Government should compenstate those whose ancesters were violated at the expense of those of us, who had absolutly nothing to do with this travesty.
Now, let me say, that Slavery was horrible and and embarrassment to all of mankind, the Indians got screwed, there are no arguments about it. There is no argument here.
I can only wish it never happened, but it did happen. But, because I'm white, I am guilty by association. I still see people posting about white guy this and white guy that and how they are screwing everybody. Well, I, have never screwed ANYBODY! and because I'm a white guy, I am looped in as a piece of dirt by many, many people.
Conservative!
That is just a bad word by people who in general, just love to stereotype. They think of Archie Bunker is the conservative poster child.
They are portrayed as racists, bigots, money-grubbers, who are out-to-screw the poor people and make the rich man RICHER. Well that simply isn't so, not by a long shot.
I'm not a raciest or a bigot, I was not raised that way, I have been fortunate enough to have had many friends. Friends of different colors, races and religions. A friend is a friend....period. I have opinions and convictions that may differ from them as do they from me.
Let me tell ya, I have been a penny or two away from being poor. I'm now maybe a nickel away but I still have to work hard to keep my chin above water. I can also say that I don't hate anybody.
But, being a Conservative means that I cannot speak out against anything or anyone, without hurting somebody's feelings, because we are just mean people, at least that is what many people truly think. The whole "politically correct" terminology has been aimed at primarily the Conservatives of America.
Christian!
You know, this one is probably the toughest. I was referred to recently that as a Christian, I am "demeaning to human beings". Wow! as a Christian, and I still say, I represent the average Christian in this country. I have traveled a lot and met a lot of people.
They are the same everywhere you go. Some good, some bad, but on the average, people are good. I really believe that. I can say one thing about Christian folks is that they have given millions (probably billions) of dollars of their hard earned money, to people on the streets, for food, clothes and shelter ALL over the world.
I practice to love my neighbor as I love myself. I teach that to my kids. Sure, it is not always easy, and yes I do fail from time to time, but that is my goal.
I am a White, Conservative Christian man, who is very pleased at what I stand for and, there are millions across this country JUST like me. We work hard, raise good kids, are happily married.....and we follow the teachings of the Holy Bible. Mostly to love your neighbor as you would love yourself...and yes, we love our God, with all our heart, mind and soul, without any reservations. Yet, by millions of Americans, most of them liberal (my opinion, but I pretty sure I am spot on!). We are simply demeaning to human beings. We are hateful and selfish. All I a can is, that is not true. I am white, I am conservative, but most importantly, I am a Christian.
I felt like I needed to get this off of my chest, so there it is. How about you?
