Why You Should Volunteer In Your Community
Volunteering is one of the things I enjoy doing most with my free time. It brings a smile to my face and the others around me which is one of the reasons I do it. I know it can be hard to find time to do things in your community but some places would just appreciate your time for an hour. If your one who likes to donate and give back then you probably already know about volunteering. Are you doing it though? Well everyone should there are many benefits for you as the volunteer, but it isn't about us it's about the people were helping. If you are to young to work but want to do something in your community then you should volunteer. If you volunteer you will get to be around people, animals, or wherever you decide to go. Today I will be giving you a list of how you can help out in your community by donating or volunteering!
Where can I volunteer?
You can volunteer pretty much anywhere! Everyone would be lucky to have you as a volunteer and on there staff. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and friends.;
Volunteering with the elderly. If you want to volunteer with the elderly then I suggest a nursing home. When I volunteered in a nursing home I made hundreds of tissue paper flowers and gave them out to the people staying in the home. Me and three of my friends would go and sing to the people and try our best to cheer them up. Seeing the smiles on their faces really made it worth it. If you enjoy being around elderly people and want to bring smiles then I suggest visiting them in nursing homes. I promise you won't regret it.
Volunteering with people of all ages. If you enjoy working with children then I would suggest you volunteer in a library. You can get the opportunity to be with the kids, read them stories, do crafts with them, it really is a joy. If you want to help people who are sick then maybe a hospital is for you. You can go around and talk to the patients, the ones who don't have much family left and you will really make them smile. If you do decide to volunteer in a hospital be aware that it could cause some tears for you. It's hard seeing such sweet people in so much pain I know that I get teary eyed once in a while.
Volunteering with animals. If your an animal lover like me and want to spend time with animals then call your local shelter! Animal shelters need all the help they can get, supplies are also needed to help the animals. If you are interested in donating that be below. Volunteering at a shelter or local pet store will give you the chance to be around animals and play with them. You may have to clean up a few times but it will be worth it in the end. Pet stores will sometimes let you volunteer if your of age, just go in and ask and i'm sure they will let you.
Those are some of the places to volunteer there are many others.
Donating to others and your community. If you already gave your time and want to do something more then you should think about donating. Shelters,hospitals, kitchens, everywhere will except money so they can use it for supplies.
You can donate to animal shelters by bringing toys, pet food, food and water bowls, bedding, etc. Hospitals just want you to give time to their patients. So you could make flowers like I did for the nursing home and give them to the patients, or maybe make something else. Kitchens would like for you to donate canned foods, breads, water, etc. These are for the homeless and people who are struggling. You can also volunteer at soup kitchens as well. If you would like to help out the homeless I suggest making bags full of goodies that can help them. For example, small bottles of water, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, food and maybe some money also. This will bring so much joy to there face and I know they will be glad you helped out.
Something that small like volunteering or giving to your community will make a difference. In your life and theirs. I hope you enjoyed my hub on voluntering and giving back to your community. Just try it out and it might change your life and the way you see things.
