Why must there be thorns among roses?

Updated on April 22, 2012

I once said; even if the world is a bed of roses, roses have thorns. Most people often wonder why life can be so cruel at times. There are times we face challenges that make life difficult to understand or to appreciate. That is we often do not understand why some certain things happen. We do not understand why life should be a mixture of joy and sorrow.

Many families are broken because the love their once had is gone. There are a lot of situations that can make one to ask questions. It is for that reason that I asked, why must there be a thorn among roses. We know that roses naturally have thorns but we never wondered why it was made that way.

Roses are beautiful and it represents love, kindness, and beauty. These are what we want to have in life but unfortunately just as roses have thorns so is it that there are obstacles that always deny us such beauty and prevent us from reaching to the roses of life. The fact is that for one to get a rose one may have to feel the pains of a thorn. So it is that for us to get what we desire in life we may have to feel the pains of life.

Maybe, Nature knew that roses are previous and beautiful so she placed it among thorns and only those that would have the courage to go head despite the thorns can get the rose. So it is in life that only those that have the courage to hang on till the end and continue the fight and struggle despite any challenge can receive the roses of life which is the desire of all men but which must be earned by man through his efforts so that at the end of it all, we shall be happy that we tried and achieved our desire.

Thanks William, you are right. We never know what is ahead in our path or quest but we should not be afraid to embark on the quest and hold on to it till the end.

      Thanks.
