Women Executed In The USA

Since 1976 there have been sixteen women put to death in the USA. In no surprise Texas has executed six women, Oklahoma follows with three, Florida with two. North Carolina, Arkansas, Virginia and Georgia have executed one female death row inmate. The death penalty will always be a controversial subject and it is important to remember those who have been executed.

Kelly Gissendaner - Georgia

Kelly Gissendaner - Georgia

Kelly Gissendaner was put to death in the State of Georgia for orchestrating her husbands murder in order to collect the insurance money. At trial Kelly Gissendaner was also accused of intimidating a witness to commit perjury.

Lisa Coleman - Texas

Lisa Coleman - Texas

Lisa Coleman was executed by the State of Texas for the murder of a nine year old boy. The child was removed from the home after a worker found him malnourished and the victim of assault. Eventually the mother was able to get the boy back into her care but was under strict orders that Lisa Coleman could not reside in the same residence. Unfortunately the mother allowed Coleman to continue to reside in her home and soon after the boy died from severe malnourished and had signs of torture.

At trial she claimed they all tried to sexually assault her but this was never proven. Aileen Wuornos is considered to be the only female Serial Killer in US history.

Judy Buenoano was executed by the State of Florida for the murders of her husband and son plus the attempted murder of her fiance. According to police reports Judy poisoned both her husband and son with arsenic. The husband would die from the poisoning, the arsenic made her son very sick and he would die when a canoe he was in was purposely flipped over and his metal braces on his arms and legs caused him to sink. Judy was also a suspect in the death of her first husband who had high levels of arsenic in his system. All of the murders were money motivated as Judy would collect life insurance policies on each of the deaths

According to reports Karla helped her boyfriend break into a home where they planned to steal a motorcycle, once inside Karla helped restrain the victim while he was attacked by the boyfriend. In the end Karla would take a pick axe and kill the victim. The second victim was a woman who Tucker found in bed with her boyfriend.
