Speculation
Recently it has been speculated that WW111 could begin this year 2012.
The speculations are that with Iran’s continuing endeavourers to have nuclear weapons, Israel at some point will make a strike against one of their facilities. This Israeli attack will have been with the United States backing.
Iran would then take reprisals.
An attack on Iran would not have the same effects as a strike against Iraq or Libya; it is a whole different ball game.
Although not particularly liked, other Middle East countries would feel obliged to support them. China has already said that if attacks were made against Iran, they would take action.
With China being brought into the fight, Europe as part of NATO will support the US.
Russia, although not so committed to Iran may not so quickly join in. However there is a large Iranian ex-pat population in Armenia and other ex soviet countries surrounding Russia, so to oppose Iran would bring its own problems to Russia itself. It would therefore probably stand shoulder to shoulder with China.
India and Pakistan may use the opportunity to settle their differences and join opposing sides.
The World certainly would be at war. Almost every country would probably have to support one or other of the major players in one way or another.

We are told that we are winning the war on terror. Is this true? What will define success and is it possible to have two winners?

Today
Today is not like 70 years ago and a war would probably be totally different from then. Continued vigilance for one of the parties going nuclear, fear would be widespread throughout the world. Those not directly involved in the war would probably take to building anti nuclear shelters in earnest.
The inevitable question would be who would win? That though would be a hard question as if one was faced with possible defeat, would it prompt them to up the stakes and go nuclear?
What, at first could appear a rational act of self defense could have repercussions to which the world has long dreaded. We must hope that cool minds prevail.
If not, then will the Mayan so called prediction for 2012, really show itself to be a true vision of the future?
- Are Nuclear Weapons, Deterrents?
We are told that countries have nuclear weapons as deterrents only. Is this true? If this is true, then why are we creating the needs for more countries to acquire their own deterrents?
