You know, its good to think about things like this before hand sometimes. Thinking out different hypothetical situations like this might serve us well if, God forbid, we ever find ourselves involved in such scenarios. You never know, one of us might well be grateful for this exercise.
I hear that a lot of young, new mothers can be prone to post partum depression and so forth. I asssume your talking about a young couple, perhaps in their early twenties if not younger. Also, we know that the number one thing couples fight about is money.
Assuming neither the young man or young woman doesn't have access to their families for support, I think the best thing to do before something bad happens is the following. I would organize the older women on the block and suggest that we, as a community, make it our business to check in on them from time to time, to make sure they're doing alright -- let them know they're not alone and all that.
After all, you know what they say, "It takes a village to raise a child."
