    Which President Of The United States Do You Think Was The Greatest?

    Since the first President in the United States, which President do you think did the best job? Which President from the past would you vote for today?

    I'd have to say George Washington. He helped get the United States of America started. He could have been President for life, but chose to step away allowing for a peaceful transition to his successor. He set precedents for future Presidents to follow (some have, some haven't) which laid the ground work for many milestones in the country's history.

    Adams and Jefferson were also quite good. As were Lincoln, the two Roosevelts, Truman, Kennedy, and Reagan.

    Washinton- yes they wanted him to be kin he said - no... how incredible was he...  absolutely incredible fortitude for a man to do that....

    a close second - Reaan, he took the mess Carter left him cleared it all up and kept the Russians at bay, and started the seeds of revolution in the USSR- determination in the face of destruction where others wanted to wuss out and cave-in like spineless jellyfish bitches. He showed us strength=respect amongst rational people...

    First question is tough.  It would be a split between Lincoln and Washington...but I'd go with Washington.  As for the second, I think we need a Lincoln now.  The thing that stands out to me is Lincoln's 2nd inaugural address. 

    After prosecuting the Civil war, there were calls by the north for severe retribution for the cost of the war.  Lincoln took another approach.  Despite all the pain he knew the path to healing was not by inflicting more pain. 

    As evidenced by this quote from that address, "With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow and his orphan - to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations."

    I think we need another Lincoln because I see a divide in this country that needs to be closed.
