Do you trust charities and aid organizations with your money?
I trust them alot more than I trust any government agency with my money.
I trust those companies on their charity work. There are companies wherein you can check your money and receipts to where your money goes.
I don't trust the government, especially in our country.
It's a tricky question. I think I do! But I suspect that these days many more charities are more like businesses when it comes to getting their cash flows balanced. Some are quite persistent/aggressive in their quest for more dosh. For example, I agreed some years ago to sponsor a tiger for a very well known charity. I did the direct debit thing each month and was happy to know that my hard earned pennies were keeping poachers away from this magnificent animal.
When I wanted to stop - I cut my hours at work - my legal right - I was bombarded with phone calls and mailshots asking me to reconsider. It went on for weeks. In the end I told them to stop contacting me or I'd never give them anything again!
If I want to give money to charity now I do it locally so I can actually see who gets my money. The bigger charities I suspect have such bureaucratic structures a large percentage of their cash intake is for paying admin workers, pen pushers, cold callers and the like!!?

The total amount of money pledged to Haiti for their recovery was about 5.3 billion bucks but so far Haiti has only received about 2% of that money. There are storage houses with food that they aren't giving to the Haitians and they have't started cleaning up so the people can go back to...
