This is a theory that is being seriously discussed, and it has some merit, right...? I mean, people everywhere need more or less the same things: combs and brushes, batteries, clothes, telephones, computers, pens, paper, bicycles, buckets, cups, plates.........etc, etc...
Absolutely. I live in SE Asia and there are so many poor people here living in a shack we wouldn’t put our dogs in. Some have a few nice possessions they are proud of. I have no doubt if they had the means that they could help out the economy.
What a beautiful world it would be if even the poorest had a little disposable income..... Ahhh nice

I am not saying the biggest problem in the Middle East, the biggest problem as a Western Culture, but as a Earth-bound community, what is the largest problem we as humans are currently facing?
