I guess they won't like losing their government contracts for credit card use for one thing , because of their Anti -Second Amendment actions . Limiting Citi uses of and for gun related business' ?  Legislators are petitioning now to dump Citi's government contracts for their business practices .

    Fair or unfair ?

I would think any institution which doesn't believe in the democratic process and does not hide their attempts to circumvent it would not be surprised when those in charge of said government chose to do business with others.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Didn't they get almost 5 billion in bail out money?

Wonder if you can use your card to pay for an abortion?  A wedding cake for a gay marriage?  Maybe a sex change operation?  Wait - how about buying a politician???

Wonder, too, how many people that cry about the financial clout of Big Business are happy to see that financial clout being used?

Fair?  About as much as refusing to baking a cake because of a personal belief system being extended to include others.  Ethical?  Same thing - when a business uses its size and strength to limit legal actions and rights of others, ethics flies out the window.  Even if they think it will be profitable to do so.
