Will Elon Musk Survive Donald Trump?

Elon Musk, the richest man on earth at the moment, is one of the stable of Billionaires (think Oligarchs in Putin's terms) Trump has surrounded himself with to run America. No doubt he is an extremely successful businessman and has a unique and fascinating vision on where to take technology. He also has ideas on how America ought to be run that are downright dangerous.

MizB suggested I start a forum on Musk to track his rise and fall in the political world he has decided to join.

I will start out with the latest debacle that Musk apparently created. It is unknown to me whether he had prior approval from Trump to blow up the temporary continuing resolution to fund the government less than two days before the fiscal cliff was reached or not, but that is what he did.

At 4:15 am, on Dec 19th, 45 hours and 45 minutes before the government ran out of money, Elon Musk, seemingly on his own initiative, started blasting out a string of posts on his propaganda platform X to tell House Republicans to not support the bipartisan deal to fund the government or face being primaried in two years.

He claimed it was full of "pork" (it wasn't, save for the congressional pay raise) and that it would be much better to cut off services that the America public relies on than to pass this bipartisan bill that Biden, the other Democrats, and Republicans had worked hard to produce.

It worked! The submissive Republicans caved to what some people are calling President Musk's demand, and killed the bill. Trump, belatedly, jumped in to support Musk and added a new demand, push the budget ceiling renewal to sometime past his next four years in office.

Speaker Johnson dutifully crafted such a CR, but it failed big time.  End the end they took the original bill, split it into three bills, knocked out the congressional pay raise and extending the funding for Pediatric Cancer Research. passed it and then sent it to the Senate. They quickly passed it and got it to President Biden to sign I suspect a little past the time the government officially ran out of money at 00:01 am, Dec 20.

This is the kind of chaos Trump and Musk has promised for the next four, horrible years.

Trump seems to be getting mad about being eclipsed by Elon Musk, lol.
