A Morning Chuckle: Jaywalking — Did America Get It Wrong
*Caveat: the title might qualify as clickbait. A 'cute' story about jaywalking started the thought, but it's not the thought.
Potato Ninja strikes again. She popped up in my morning feed. (a pleasant visual to go with a morning cup of coffee)
Her explanation of "jaywalking" being an American creation for the auto industry — the Brits don't have it — makes sense.
It's about four minutes and enjoyable to watch. I could barely take my eyes off it to pause the video.
But that was over an hour ago.
Here's the thought, a rhetorical question: Do you ever just sit back and think about something? Not like actively searching the Net and thinking, or analyzing. And not like daydreaming. More like just sitting back, putting your hands behind your head, and pondering possible paths?
This one started with geography and necessity, passed through our modern industrialization (thinking of history's example of New York City's horse poop-choked streets), and stopped at the Baby Boomer generation's highway rest stop of male manhood.
I ended up thinking America made the right decision for America.
The lady and her negative insinuations are wrong; it's a lot more involved than just having the sense not to step in front of a speeding metal box that will run you over.
