Thank you for contacting me about our Second Amendment rights as Americans. I strongly support our right to bear arms and I will always stand up for gun rights in the U.S. Senate.
Firearms play an important role in the heritage of Montana. And I have consistently supported the rights of American gun owners.
In fact, I took a lead role in crafting a bipartisan friend-of-the-court brief in favor of the Supreme Court decision overturning the District of Columbia's ban on individual firearms. Senator Baucus and I also urged the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to reverse their decision that surplus brass casings on their munitions list be destroyed rather than sold. I am pleased to report that the DLA agreed with our letter and reversed their position.
I appreciate the time you have taken to be involved and informed about this issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
