To the continuation of How to become a social worker, I would like to add social worker skills, which is more important to become a social worker.Whether we accept or not we must try to follow as well as try to acquire the skills utmost levels, irrespective of aiming what is the benefits we are going to get from that.
- First and foremost, we must start listening others. There is always some types of listening;1) preparing the answer before other person complete his/her words.2) Some they thing smart , start giving answer before they understand fully what is the subject.This two kinds of listening will yield frustration, divertion, emptyness, missing confidence from otherside. If you decided to become a expert in social working , emphathetic listening is important.Try to listen to understand the thing in their point of view. It cannot be achieved in a day or week or month or year. It needs continuous and constant practise, so that we shall acquire the skill, emphathetic listening.
- Second thing - self discipline;- Wherever we go for social service, Whatever type of social service, we must maintain the self discipline. This is not only help us from ruining our character, it will enrich the confidence of us on others. This is the one of the stepping stone for effective social working. Be sure , one or the other day, you must be in the top.
- Communication skills :- Whichever field you take , this is one of the important skills. That too, for social working, for convincing the people, to overcome the worries from them, to give solace to their life, to give confident to their life, to give meaning to their life, to give love, to show right direction, to overcome agony and hatred, your commucnication skills will help.
- Love :-Love is a verb. we know. It has to flow spontaneously irrespective of caste orcreed or society or rich or poor. When you are dedicated for service you must try to value the service. Not which type of service. More you selective , you services become questionable. So loving all the creatures under the sky important.
- Facing the problems : Social works are concerned with problems. So, It is not easy to keep away problems and continue with social working.So you must understand how to solve the problems with presence of mind. And you should not afraid of facing the problems. So you should be the answer for the problems. This will give us confidence and brings the situation under control. Let you learn and acquire the skill to be an effective social worker.
- Be patient : Whatever happening around you , better be observant instead of one of the person arousing the situation. This will help us to control us and overcome the situation. This is one of the skills we need to cultivate day to day to avoid the situation becoming worsen
