5 Good Reasons to Date a Soldier

Updated on November 27, 2011

If you've had your eye on a soldier and you're wondering what it would be like to date one, allow me to present you with 5 good reasons to date someone in the military. Of course, I should probably temper that by saying not every military will produce the same qualities in every individual, and you may not be so keen to rush into a relationship with, say, a soldier from a particularly evil regime (you can decide which are which) but most countries do produce similarly-minded men and women in uniform with common traits. So if you're thinking of dating one, here are 5 reasons you should do so.

Military Uniforms are Hot

At least, they are on men. Perhaps you find them sexy on women as well, and if you do, more power to you. But from the perspective of a hetero female, there are few women out there who do not find that military uniforms increase a man's sex appeal by leaps and bounds. That, and the haircuts can really accentuate a masculine face, and that can be hot, too. Soldiers look well-groomed and kempt (well, when they are not being dragged through muck and guck) and this is very appealing.

Soldiers Understand Duty

Today's metrosexual has a staggeringly poor sense of duty and are often more interested in getting their nails done than living up to your expectations. A soldier has had a sense of duty drilled into his sexy little head and he knows how to fulfill his obligations, be they as a boyfriend, husband or father. If this does not appeal to you, you are probably extremely immature yourself.

Soldiers Get the Point of Honor

I can't really think of many groups of men out there who understand or value honor these days. It really seems like a dying concept. Sure, there are a few other professions that embrace the notion, but few do it as seriously as the career soldier. There are unwritten rules that soldiers follow because simply because they should be, and not because they must be. It's a shame that more people don't subscribe to this belief system.

Soldiers are Fit

Ok I don't want to make this too much about sex appeal, but fit soldiers are hot and there is just no point in denying that. Plus, most of them are trained well in various areas of combat and this is very sexy too. As someone who has been practicing Krav Maga for some time now, I find it far sexier to date a man I'm not guaranteed to win against in a friendly wrestling competition. Ahem. That, and I'd be lying if I said women don't get a bit of a thrill walking around on the arm of a man who knows how to kick some arse!

Soldiers Can Think on Their Feet

I am so tired of men who leave all the decision making to women. Don't be fooled into thinking it's because they haven't got an opinion -- it's because they are either too lazy or too daft to add anything of their own to the decision making process! Soldiers are trained to come up with solutions on the fly, and this is very appealing across the board. If you've got big decisions to make as a couple, a soldier will help you make them, instead of leaving all the responsibility on your shoulders.
