A Poem About Breaking Up

Updated on July 5, 2016

This poem was written...

This poem was written from a song I remembered as I was growing up. The song was very special to me at the time, and as a result, I searched for the lyrics at a retail store that had a database with older version of songs. When I could not find the lyrics or the song, this poem was a reminder of the title. The store no longer exist, as a matter of fact was the first retail store that allowed anyone to search for older songs. That is when I created this poem.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

The day that I first saw you

It was love at first sight.

Your appearance has a way of,

Beaming a smile that's just right.

I accept your apology for being,

A star that shines in the night,

Through each and every plight

I held you together with all my might.

Our signs were put together,

We were similar as the rain.

A gush of wind could create,

An odyssey from our name.

That is gifted as the clouds,

It's mindful of our pain.

A side of us we do not show,

But all the same it's gain.

Now the difference in our life,

On a scale from one to ten,

I score on you a twenty-two,

By the delightful things you do.

Your pale blue moon,

Is the brightest that I've seen.

A sensational disguise and I can't lie,

I was victim, you an alibi.

I guess you just don't know,

Don't want to understand,

I'm not the kind of girl,

To make every wish come true,

I'm just a bit old-fashioned,

And I like to have some fun,

The kind and honest able,

That we were meant to be.

You say that you are sorry,

And want to start anew,

That the most perfect love is,

The one to see us through,

I wonder though if maybe,

The one that you describe,

Has to have the same senses,

It's driving me wild.

My conquer and divide strategy,

Is the road to our destiny,

The prince of my mini throne,

It's filled with the sated degree,

Of heaven and earth my beloved,

My vanity of life's promises,

My nativity.

I thought about singing a ballet

When I thought about you,

Although we finally departed,

It's so hard to do,

The day that I first saw you,

It was love at first sight,

So breaking up is hard to do.
