A Title That Explains Itself: Facebook

Updated on April 7, 2022

Just about everyone I know recognizes this logo posted above. And as far as I can tell from paying attention to the news, the public, friends, my immediate family and many Hubbers and their wonderful Hubs, people are indeed addicted to the new phenomenon -- Facebook. Out of nowhere this worldwind internet site named Facebook became an obsession, a must have, a must check it daily routine, and in my own household the "only" means for my twin teens to communicate with their friends. They literally no longer used the telephone--it was actually free for my use, something I had not experienced in such a very long time.

So many people I know involved with its use are so caught up and consumed by facebook that it is very difficult to discuss my concerns to them about this new phenomenon. Like for instance, "Where the heck did this thing come from? And, whom is behind it?" Perhaps, it started out innocently by someone creating a homepage to share with their friends and a place for them to be creative for others to see. But quite frankly, "Holly Cow!" It has spread like a bad disease, in fact, Facebook has spread faster than any known 'thing' possible of spreading.

I say, "There is definitely more than meets the eye!" Just a thought, I may be reaching here by saying this, but, "what comes to mind is the movie, 'The Matrix,' remember with Mr. Fabulous; Keanno Reeves?" Not to mention all the other fabulous actors in the movie too! Without getting carried away, which I tend to do far too much, I couldn't help but mention my borderline paranoid notion. Just another little notion I have and must mention too -- Brainwashing!!!

Looking For Facts... "What is behind the meaning of Facebook? Is it Merely A Book Of Faces?"

Let's take a moment to analyze the title: Facebook.

Translation/Possible Meaning; a book of faces? And, behind the faces? Inside the book? Information--way too much information! Whether accurate or not, one cannot be sure.

Curiosity alone drove me to check it out. I had to see why my teenagers were anxious to get on the computer and of course I had to find the answer to why they began fighting with each other over taking turns. We always only had the one computer in our household, they were use to taking turns...."Ah-Ha! Facebook is perhaps, a means to have people purchase more computers alleviating hassles, and of course the obession then leads to more purchasing of mobile phones that now is Facebook accessible, and so on, and so on........

To be continued.....
